should i replace my 2 polk 12' gnx124's? and if so which one of these should i replace it with Alpine Type-R SWR 1241D, JBL Power p1220d, MTX thunder 8000A, or keep my two polks in my enclosure in the back of my hatch in my 1995 vw golf III. (I have a mtx 4250 mono class d amp).

    well think practically.

the 4250D will do at best 300 x 1 into 2 ohms. you can run one type R off that, but fact is, with the power you've got, you'll enjoy the two GNX's more than the single R... far as the mtx 8,000... it's power hungry... if you dont have 400 solid to it, dont bother, its poor on the SQ scene and poorer on other things as well... mtx makes good amps, i've used them for years... never was fond of their subs though.

two type R's or two 8000's off htat amp is absolutely out of the question.

far as the JBL power's -- i'm not too familiar with them... JBL GT's are nice but they're basically really close to the GNX's so why waste the time/ effort / money on new ones when you'd just be swappin out for some of the same.

two 8000's or two Type Rs would be an upgrade but u may need to get another 250D or make the upgrade to a 6500D or similar amp (if not even more juice than that).

if you do end up spending hte money and decide to go up -- get the momo's dude --- the momo 10 beats the hell outa the type R and the 8000 both... its a better sounding, better power handling, all around "gooder" sub. and u could run two 10's off a 6500D or equivelant.

    happy bumping :o)
