I'm lookoing to get the RM8 series. Does anyone have these speakers, if so what is your opinion?
I am trying to avoid getting a center channel higher than 5.5" which is difficult, but I am still looking for clean and somewhat big sound. My TV is not wall mounted and center channels usually are 7+ inches high and will block out some of my tv.
Fronts- Monitor 50's
Center- CS1
Rear- RM8's
Sony SA-W2500 Sub (To be replaced with PSW505-hopefully)
Samsung LN46A650
Sony STR-DH800

I bought the rm95 package. It has 4 rm8's and the rm8 center. It sounds pretty good for how small the speakers are. It is a big improvement over my old sony satellites. They are pretty clear, and the psw 111 sub that comes with them is perfect for the rm8's.
the sub is actually a pretty decent sub. When I upgrade my fronts and center to larger speakers, the psw 111 should still be plenty loud enough to cover the larger RTi speakers.

I bought mine to use as the sides and rears of a 7.1 setup. They should work great for it. The only problems are the spring clips. They are the worst I have ever used. The speakers also lack midrange for music. Movies and games sound really good though. I don't listen to much music, so the small speakers work perfect for me.

For the price of the package 699$, You could buy alot better speakers off of polk direct. But if your main concern is the size of the center channel, then these speakers should work well for you. I'm also in the same boat as you. I can't fit a bigger center into my setup. I would love to get one of the RTi centers, and a pair of rTi A5's, but I will have to redo my whole TV setup if I do.

Hope you enjoy the rm8's. I am happy with mine.

Today I tried my rm8's out with an audio dvd. They sounded alot better then they did with mp3 music. I think that they were just showing more of the imperfections of an mp3 file, then my old speakers did. They actually sounded pretty good with music today.

After you get them, send me a pm and tell me what you think of them if you get the time.
I almost forgot. If you are buying the rm95 package, I would go with the larger psw 125 if space is not a big issue. Don't get me wrong, the psw 111 is a very good match for the rm8's. It can actually put out more then you need, but for 50$ you could get a 12 inch sub, rather then an 8 inch. It might save you some money in the long run, if you ever upgrade to larger speakers.
I wish I would have thought about that when I ordered my system.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy them.

One thing about the rm8's. It's really hard to find speaker stands to fit them. The ones on polk for them are very expensive. Here are the ones I bought at walmart. http://www.sanus.com/us/en/products/speaker-foundations/sp-home-theater/HTB3
They work well with the rm8's. You have to improvise a little with the mounting plate, but it's not a big deal. They were 40$ a pair at walmart when I got them. Very sturdy, and look nice with the rm8's on top of them.
