Replace Monitor 10 Tweeters?

I have had Montior 10 speakers for 18 years. Discovered last night that one of the tweeters is no longer working. (May have been out quite a while, but I have 2 sets of speakers on the front with the Polks attached to the ceiling, but may not have noticed because of this!) I have read that the best idea is to replace both of the tweeters with the RD0198-1 from Polk. Everything else with the speakers looks fine to me and sound is still quite good. Even the gaskets still look good. My question is "Is it worth it to do the replacement, or is it likely that other things will go wrong over the next couple of years?" I had already emailed Polk about what to do before I discovered this forum. Any other tips or things to do would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Ron S

Thanks for getting me on the right replacemment. I'm not sure how I got the idea it was the other model number. But I will order from Polk Monday. And mention that I am a Club Polk member.

Actually, the tweeters I have in the monitor 10 are SL2500. I have read in these threads that there is some confusion when replacing the sl series tweeters. Am I correct with my original thought that it is the RD0198-1 that I need? I have always liked my Polks but I agree that the sound from the tweeters is on the shrill side.

    Welcome to Club Polk.

Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

I have now had the tweeters in for a couple of weeks now. I am very happy with them. I don't really know the correct lingo to use in describing the improvement, but I would say that they have expanded what I hear and with more clarity. All in all, sweet.
I have also just upgraded my subwoofer from an M&K VX7 (another vintage piece of equipment!) to a Klipsch Synergy Sub10. I got it at a Circuit City closeout for $280. Well, I am tinkering around with the different crossovers on the sub & Yamaha HTR-5750 receiver. I have read what I can about setting crossovers and have gotten confused about what I should have the two pieces of equipment set at to mesh them all together properly. I tried to find out what the crossover is supposed to be for my monitor 10's but there is no mention of it in the manual or no reference to it when I google for it. Am I missing something somewhere? Also, any direction in where to look for specifics on setting the crossover for my setup would be greatly appreciated.
