...to exploiting my Monitor 7B's for all I can.
It's been a slow trip for me on the Polk front as of late. A pair of Infinity RSII's distratcted me for a bit. But recent acquisitions have me appreciating the Polks again. Long story short.....I've split my 2-channel room into two systems.
On the Polk side I think I've found a nice amp/preamp combo and am happy with the sources, so far. None of this is earth shattering, nor audiophile quality, but if one goes back into my posts far enough they know I'm squeezin the most I can out of what little resources I have.
I was recently able to grab a Yamaha C-40 preamp which allowed me to totally sever the two systems in this room. It's not one of their more legendary pre's but it's plenty clean and just really gets out of the way, letting the Carver PM-175 do what it does.....move air
Sources are; Yamaha CDX-710u, Yamaha KX-330 and a Yamaha TT-300u with an Ortofon OM5E cart and OM10 stylus.
See a theme here? You bet. I've recently been stricken with yammitis. I like it. I want more of it. It sounds great with Polk. I will eventually put a nice M series Yamma-amp in place of the Carver, but for now, it's what I got (read: Sublime).
I believe I have the M7's dialed in nicely with the Infinity IL100 sub as they sound very close to the slam I get with the 4 10" woofs of the RSII's.
And as for the long awaited recap....it'll happen. I even had one of the x-overs pulled for a bit, which is why they were down for so long. But alas, it hasn't happened just yet.
