Neon Dash Speakers

Well, the stock size is a 2 1/2 speaker and its full-range stck. Well, I am useing a 400x4 amp and everything is adjusted correctly and I just vaporized the stock dash speakers. I need a recommendation for replacements that will handle this power safely. Any suggestions are welcome. I believe I mat need a bass filter so I can completely eliminate bass from the speaker so I can go to a tweeter instead of a full-range.

huh?
i dont think i understand
your speaker is a 2 1/2inch speaker?
thats kind of an odd size
and your running 400watts into a 2 1/2 inch stock speaker?
no tweeter that i know of will take 400 watts
polk's 10 inch subs take 400watts max rms
a 2 1/2 inch full range?
are you sure?

They are probably Midrange-Tweeters. Try a pair of components. You could make an adapter to hold the tweeter and mount the Mid-Woofer in the door or kickpanel. I made adapter plates for the stock tweeter location in my 2001 Escape. I am running a pair of Kenwood KFCT204 tweeters in place of the factory units. The Ford Mach tweeters were in the "Sail" panels.

no component system can handle 400x4 though...
thats a very powerful amp

cody -- the dude has to mean 400.4 not 400 x4... like 400 total = 100 x 4.
otherwise he's runnin a legacy with a 400 x 4 sticker on it... anyway.. um.. heh...
ok.... help time.. (nice vinnie enters the room)...
chris is right -- throw some comps in there... depengin on the year u migh thave to cut a hole in teh door trim panel but the sheetmetal will have a hole for a speaker of some varying size at least...
get the ID Cameleons (spelling)... that way u an tell me if they sound good so i can decide of i want them or not.The Artist formerly known as PoweredByDodge -
Your not hearing me right, I think. I have a 400 watt amp, divided by 4 channels. I don't have any of the channels bridged. So, I have 100 watts going to each channel (roughly). The front channels support 2 speakers each. This makes for a total of 6 speakers in the car. 2 in the dash, 1 in each door (2-door), and 2 6X9's in the rear dash. Hope this clarifies the issue.

i see
yeah a good pair of components would suit you fine
im guessing the ones in the dash are tweeters...and the ones in the door are 5 1/4 or 6 1/2s
in that case you could get the mm455s or 465s(depending on what fits) and have a 100 watts going to each crossover and that would be perfect
