Powering Rear Speakers (RTi A3)

So my RTi A7's will be delivered on monday, and i'm going to be buying an external amp a few days after that. I'm leaning towards the XPA-3 since it's on sale until the superbowl (for those sick of hearing about Emotiva, that's not what this threads about ;)).

Seeing as how this is only a 3 channel amp, my rears (RTi A3) will be powered using my Pioneer Elite 92. My question is, my AVR should be perfectly fine powering my rears right? I mean would it really be worth it if i instead got a 5 channel amp, or bought another amp in the future, for the sole purpose of powering the rears? I'm just curious seeing as how the rears don't get nearly as much action as does the frontstage.

Thanks in advance for the help and patience (which i lack) from everyone here on Club Polk...:)

The rears will do just fine being ran on the avr. Make sure you calibrate everything.

Think it through, man... a separate amp to power your surrounds?? Naaaa... what you'll get next (I know you already ordered your XPA-3) is an XPA-2 to power your A7's! From what I've read, it would make them sing! Then, your 3-channel amp can power your center and surrounds... and I believe that you'd be set for quite a while... at least that might get you through the year.;)

In the meantime, leroyjr1 is right... the surrounds will be more than adequate run off of the AVR. Think about it - the surrounds will be the only speakers that your Pio will have to power. You'll be taking quite a load off of it with your fronts and center separately powered.

Dude, what do you think of my idea (above)? I'm thinking you never got around to reading this... you can never go without replying. :)

I would of replied to this had i seen it, it must of went down the list quickly and i actually forgot about this thread.

Yeah that's not a bad idea though, i've heard about people using that combination as well. I'm going to stick with the XPA-3 for my fronts and the Pioneer Elite 92 for my rears for now though, probably for a quite a while actually. I heard the same thing about the XPA-3, that it will make my A7's sing. I don't quite feel like dropping $800 for an XPA-2 anytime soon, unless of course it goes on sale or something, then maybe. :)
