New member Questions Monitor 10

edited January 2009 in Vintage Speakers
Hey fellow Polkies. New member with some questions. I have noticed on the site that RTA-15TL is listed on vintage speaker list. I don't see the 15T listed are these the same speakers? If not what is the difference? Next I have the opportunity to purchase a pair of Monitor 10 and 4A, $100 for each pair. Is this a good deal and is their a difference between the Monitor 10 and 10B, besides the cabinet color. Appreciate any feedback.

They use different tweeters. The black tweeters with the leads on a slant are the most desireable(peerless). $100 is good if they are in good shape. As for the RTA15T I have never seen one.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

The 15 didn't come out until they discontinued the use of the sl2000 tweeter. There was only a 15TL (the TL standing for Tri-laminate in reference to the new tweeter line)

    That's a good thing:) It's a straight upgrade from the SL3000 to the RDO198.
    Thanks H9.

I have a Pair of RTA-15T's and had to replace the tweeter in one. I replaced both so the pair would be equal in sound. I believe the replacement tweeters sent were SL2500. Tried to get original parts but no luck.

My understanding is that the very first rta 15's were designated T rather than TL, but that the two models are perfectly identical.

I replaced my SL3000 with the SL2500 as recommended by CS. Is the SL2500 the same as the RDO198. I keep seeing these mentioned in the posts. If not should I look at replacing the SL2500's in my RTA-15T's.

If you had the SL3000, your model is the RTA 15TL regardless of what the label says. The SL2500 is the wrong replacement tweeter, but may have been all that Polk had at the time. That is, before the RD0's were available. You should replace both of them with the RD0198-1's, IMO.

What do the RDO198 run for a pair. I dont recall what I paid for the SL2500's. Think it was about $70.
