sorry for reposting this question but we're looking for new amps and would love to know the answer.
here's the question...My father in law's SDA srs2's have a serial numbers of 2765 and 2865 are these eligible for the A1 cable swap??? we'd like to go dual mono if possible.
if it is possible we're thinking about 2 gfa 555's

I have SDA-SRS-2s (purchased from George Daniel just south of Atlanta) and wanted to run them with Odyssey Mono Extreme SE power amps. I called Klaus Bunge of Odyssey and he said his mono amps would work fine for this setup with a cable connecting the negative output posts of the two mono amps (and using the regular SDA interconnect cable between the SDA-SRS-2s). He made a Groneberg cable w/bananas to plug between the negative posts and sent it along with the amps. This system has been running well over a year with no problems whatsoever.
Certainly this option would not work on many mono power amps, so one should consult the amp manufacturer [first!!!] , or go with the special "A1" SDA interconnect with the transformer. -

I went with the custom cable with transformer and what a difference in the sound stage. It really opened it up and the detail is amazing.

You don't want to run the 555's bridged even with the AI-1 cable. In bridged mode you CANNOT strap the amplifiers................not with any bridged stereo amplifier while running in bridged mono.
You will need to consult Ken at Polk customer service for options when using non-common ground amps with those SRS 2's.

Just run one 555 stereo, and you are done. There is plenty of current available.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
Thanks

and upgraded crossovers IIRC,, glad that you are enjoying them Roger,, my regards to your family. One day I'd like to get my ears on your setup.:)JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut) -
To answer your question...............yes those serial #'s allow you to use the AI-1 cable. Get some "real" mono's if that's the route you think you need to go. Don't use bridged stereo amps.
Try the 555 alone in stereo; I wouldn't think you'd need more.
Good luck

Having owned a pair of 555's,and trying them in a "bridged" mode,, never again,, if you want mono,, get mono's,, bridged just did not do it for me.Good luck.JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)
