PSW1000 too big for my room?

Hey everyone. So I picked up a PSW1000 at a local Fry's for what I believe to be a good price; but I'm wondering if it's total overkill for my room. The room is 10ft x 10 ft with 8 ft ceilings (800 ft^3).

Now, I know you can turn the sub down, but I was wondering if anyone else had input on this. (If I open, 10% restocking fee.) I could only demo it in their big audio room (20 x 20 I'd say with 10 foot ceilings.)

Thanks in advance.

I have the same exact room size as you.

Ive ran dual stereo subs, each subs with 2 15"s and 1 12" woofer in it, 500 per sub...

Just the right amount of bass! Amazing for movies, and could be turned down so low for music it was effortless!

It might even be ideal for your room, with twin 10" drivers, IIRC, and a very nice cabinet so that it won't look too shabby either.

Damn. where the hell to the second set of 15s go...either side of the couch>? That's alot of stuff for a 11x10 room.

You should have no problem. As you know bass is not directional and they have a volume adjust. When you get a bigger room you will appreciate the size.

Yes. Works out fine. However, I do wish I had a bigger room so I could get a projector. Its bad enough having to upgrade equipment. Now I have to upgrade the house.

As long as it sounds good and exactly the way you want it to. You know that better than any of us because it's your sub, your sound just the way YOU want it. Happy Subwoofing!!

First off, bass IS directional. Maybe not the frequencies that you are thinking of, but what comes out of a sub IS directional. I don't care who your momma is.

That said, the sub you have does not need to be turned up to half or anywhere near that. When I had mine, I would have it no more than 25% up on the dial. Most of the time I would have it at a setting of 4 or 5 out of a possible 100. Anything more than that would equal "boom". I can't stand boom at the bottom.

If you take the time to place it properly [KEY!] and tune it to the room you will no doubt love this sub. This sub is not overkill in the room size you are speaking of. At all. You just need to tweak every thing out of what it has to offer for your situation.

Where is the sub located and could you possibly provide pic's of it's location? Also, what settings do you currently have it on?

No such thing as too much bass for a room......

Well not for a bass enthusiast like myself anyway.

    Nice sub:)

With a sub, just right = almost too loud, but not quite.

So the sub has to have the potential to be way too loud.

Edit: 100 posts and still only a Polkster. What a cruel disappointment.

So I got to playing around with the settings on the PSW1000. I think I'll probably keep it. I've decided to go with the "I might need a huge sub later" approach; so for now, I've got it set up at the level I like it.

I must say the Omaha Beach scene in Saving Private Ryan shook the entire house.

    Thanks everyone for the suggestions/comments.
