RC65i vs. RC85i
Hello, looking for some advice. I'm setting up a home theater in my basement, and was going to go with in-wall speakers with the surround/rear speakers, and with floor-standing speakers in the front. I've found a pretty good deal on both of these in-wall speakers, RC65i and RC85i, but I don't have a place around me that carries in-wall speakers so I can't really listen to them before I buy.
I can get the RC65i's for $134.95/pair with free shipping or the RC85i's for $159.99/pair with $17 shipping, making them about $85 more expensive total.(for 4 speakers) Anyone have experience with both? Would it be worth it to get the 85's? Or would the 65's be plenty for the surrounds/rears?
Thanks in advance

Where can you get the RC85i for $159 a pair?
The lowest price I've seen from an authorized dealer was $239, and that's with free shipping.polkaudio RT35 Bookshelves
polkaudio 255c-RT Inwalls
polkaudio DSWPro550WI
polkaudio XRT12 XM Tuner
polkaudio RM6750 5.1
Front projection, 2 channel, car audio... life is good! -
I am running 85's for my rears/surrounds and couldn't be happier. I have no experience with the 65's. I say go for the 85's both speakers use directional tweeters and they sound very crisp without any sharpness.

Maybe not an 'authorized dealer' but he has great feedback and he has a bunch of them. After shipping they're about $177, which is a pretty good deal, but I don't know if it's worth the extra money over the 65's -
You can try www.newegg.com they are authorised dealer and less priced if i were you i would buy either from polk forum or from authorised dealer onlly.
or can try local CL where you can see and hear it personally before buying them. Just check with CC since they carry this range and bargain for a discount.:D -

Well, newegg has a pair of RC85i's for $299 and RC65i's for $199, I don't know why you say the price is less, because it's almost twice the price...I'd rather take my chances with ebay.
Unfortunately, all of the Circuit City's around me have already closed down(they went out of business you know...) Bad timing for me I guess. If there are still some open by you, you should go see if there are any good deals, they should be having their liquidation sale.
I'm really not worried about where to buy them, I just want to know if the 85's are much better than the 65's. -
oh yes compared to ebay its quite higher, i have RC65i and very pleased with it, you can check my review in customer review page, cant say about 85 but i feel 8" will be much better than 6.5" woofer. So go ahead with RC85i IMO.
and for that price in ebay its worth every penny(as long as you get the genuine stuff) -
So nobody has experience with both speakers?
