I envision the call going a little something like this

911: 911? state the nature of your emergency
caller: um...uh....get somebody over to the park fast
911: whats the nature of the emergency sir?
caller: look....I dont know what to tell you, just get vehicles with swirling lights there asap, and perhaps a bucket of water would be prudent?

Can't say that I laughed after reading that.

Although the dumbest one I heard was on the myth busters website. Don't have the link, but there was a flood 30-50 years ago at a beer manufacturer. It flooded the streets with beer, and someone died from alcohol poisoning by trying to drink all of it.

Well I guess if you can't afford a gun or some really good drugs, and there are no tall buildings around, you gotta go with what you got. In this case, gasoline and firecrackers :(

I dunno, he did expire eventually, just not as fast as he'd hoped so it kinda was successful.

I having difficulty figuring out why he jammed a bunch of fireworks down his pants?

Maybe it wasn't a suicide attempt and he was just kinky like that? Maybe he just told people it was a suicide out of fear of being lambasted for his kinkyness?

Bob... what was the Simpsons episode where Homer was giggling maniacally at that brutal video in a driver's ed class - exclaiming "It's funny because I don't know him"?
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Duffless.
McClure : "Hi! I'm Troy McClure. You might remember me from such driver's ed films as "Alice's Adventures through the Windshield Glass" and "The Decapitation of Larry Leadfoot." For the next sixty minutes, we'll be seeing actual film of car crash victims."

The footage is shown. Everyone in the audience seems horrified (one guy almost loses his lunch) except Homer.

McClure : "Here's an appealing fellow -- in fact, they're a-peeling him off the sidewalk."

    Homer : "It's funny 'cause I don't know him."

They have clips from that episode on Hulu, but not that scene, oddly enough.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

I know you can survive bad burns for a long time, but how do you go two weeks with bad burns AND a sliced throat from a box cutter?

And, how do you manage the logistics behind that feat?
    - insert fireworks, soak clothes in gasoline, cut throat, then try to light yourself on fire? How do you know you can get it lit while bleeding out?
    - insert fireworks, soak clothes in gasoline, light on fire, then cut throat? How are you supposed to concentrate on cutting if you're on fire?

I don't know. Seems like there are a lot easier, more fun, cooler, smarter, quicker ways to go. . .

If he had asked me, I would have tried to convince him not to.
If that didn't work, I would have recommended subsituting metal sparklers taped tightly together with electricians tape in place of the fire crackers.

About 10 bundles of 12 each.

If you're going to do something, you should try to do it right.
