Seems like every package I get marked fragile looks like it was handled by chimps......the mailman who always rings the bell just left this box on the porch....the way it looked i bet he ran away after leaving it...thankfully it was wrapped in some bubble wrap, but both ends tore open, guessing it was thrown into a mail cart and the weight of the unit caused it to rip thru....will hook it up today...nothing loose and moving around from what I can tell....as stated before................

USPS sucks.......first lost certified mail, and now this well cared for package...............

Was is just bubble wrap that was used? There seems to be a lot of space between the component and the end of that box. Bubble wrap is good to use around a component, but it is not a substitute for foam or other rigid material to keep the unit from sliding around.

Med sized, 2.5-3 lb pkg mailed to Georgia(on Jan 2nd, along with 5 other packages mailed to all over the 48, including Wa and Al. All made it within a 2-3 day turnaround, except, of the Georgia Pkg, which I think was the shortest trip.

Remind me to beat my wife for using USPS instead of UPS!!!

I am not saying they didn't handle it poorly, but that carton does not seem to be designed to pack a heavy component. Add to that the already mentioned lack of packing material, and I am not a bit surprised that it arrived like that.

I agree, it appears that the packing job is more at fault.

So what is it a DAC?

Yeah they definitely didn't add any rigid foam around that component. Looks to be an amp or receiver with nothing but bubble wrap around it, which lead to there being no stability at the stress points.

some void filler would have went a long way there, but I know first hand what shipping companies do this this stuff. I used to work for FedEx. After seeing one of the pickup guys kick a fragile box out to the truck like a soccer ball I made sure to double bubblewrap everything.

Well I have to say that there is a combination of reasons why it showed up like it did and none of those the fault of USPS.

    1. the box is rated for 13lbs before and it has something far heavier in it now most likely.

    2. the box is used maybe several times before even.

3.there is nothing to keep the item inside from moving around violently.

    4. it was sent Parcel Post so it made a 100 stops before it arrived.

Whoever shipped this should be put on your blacklist as far as im concerned.

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

I'm the one who shipped. There was no air in that box. I had to shove that thing in there and I had foam in each corner. The box was used once to get glass pictures here. The component and its contents did not weigh over 12lbs. Actually it weighed about 10lbs.
It was definitely not a cheap box. Yes it was sent parcel but it was going straight up 90/94,not 3000 miles across country.

I'm sure if you check my feedback you will not see one person say I did not pack something well. Could it have been packed better, maybe. Is it all my fault,no.

If there is something wrong then I will take full responsibility and refund him and the postage back. I'm still waiting on his reply.

If I should be blackballed from selling on here,I guess that's for you all to decide.

I thought my blacklisted comment might evoke a response. The items you have sent me have been very well packed. The foam that was packed in each corner may well have fallen out considering the size of that hole. You have to admit though from the pics it appears that there is 2" of gap between the component and the end of the box so it is easy to jump to conclusions. 10-12lbs shouldndt be enough to cause that damage unless it fell off the back of the truck going down the freeway. And **** happens. At least your man enough to offer to make it right irregardless of whether it's USPS's fault or not, unlike many others that wouldndt so kudos to you Dave.

I can only use USPS to Japan, so imagine my headache, limited to 72lbs also. They are work arounds, but for the most part, they have done well.

Thanks guys. I really felt bad about all this and it sounds like all is well. Hated for this to happen to John on top of the other problems he's had with shipping. John's been great and I appreciate that.

Dave is both great buyer and seller from my perspective.

On the flip-side concerning the US Postal Service: I own a business that uses USPS exclusively to ship nearly 1,000 packages (wristwatches) per month. Our failure rate is 0-1 damaged per year and 2 lost for a failure rate of .00025! (yes, thats 2.5 per 10,000 units shipped)
