1.2 TL bass response

I've been listening to my monitor 10A's and the bass response on the 10A's are considerably better than the 1.2 TL's. WTF!!! How can this be? Well I decided to move the 1.2's back 4 inches and now they are 6 inches from the back wall. Voila!!! Room shaking bass now. Just saying...damn these speakers are awesome...:D:D:D

Check all drivers. Move then in and out and see if any of them have any obstructions. Next, listen to each driver with your ear right up to it. Is it driving like the rest of them? Any abnormalities? Differences?
The 1.2tl's kick **** but should not be ousted by the 10's.
Also, do you have them hooked up correctly?~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -
I had the same problem with a pair of SRS 2's. If I back them up to the wall, the room shakes but imaging weakens. Pull them into the room a foot or so, bass is lacking, but imaging is fantastic."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. Could it be that it's not really "less" bass, but just "different" bass? Your ears have a break in period too whenever you get a new pair of speakers. The nirvana inducer-

An excellent point made here. It took a little time for me to make the adjustment to the much cleaner bass of high end audio as opposed to the really loud and car shaking bass of two Alpine 12" type R's with 900 watts in the back of my IROC-Z.SDA-1C (full mods)

Hey...I've got two 12"Alpine Type R's with 900 watts in the back of my 1990 Firebird...sounds good with that hatchback roofline huh? Talk about some thump.
There is definitely a big difference though between that and my home stereo. My home stereo is a much much cleaner sound...if I get out of my car and go inside and turn the stereo on, I find myself wanting to turn the bass up cuz I'm used to the car stereo.
I'd give your ears a little while to get used to the TL's and then re-evaluate them. The nirvana inducer-

1000 watt mono-block powering the 12's(ok, so it's not really 900 watts, close enough...lol)
That car never even really gets used anymore...I've been debating selling it lately actually. I'd probably put the factory stereo back in though, and keep all the Alpine stuff. I love that system. I'll keep it for when I get my 02 TransAm in a few more years.

It's all good now that I've moved them closer to the back wall. It's a night and day difference. Imaging was never a problem before and isn't now. Speaker placement is mentioned all the time in this forum and here is a perfect example of simply moving the speakers back 4 inches (now 6 inches from back wall) resulting in a dramatic improvement in bass.SDA SRS 2.3TL's

In order to obey the triangle rule, I moved the 1.2's closer to my listening position. Bass was fairly good and I lived with it for over a year. Then when I acquired the 10A's and noticed that the bass was better than 1.2's, I decided to experiment and move them closer to the back wall. That's when everything changed for the better. Imaging has always been fantastic BTW.SDA SRS 2.3TL's

Compared to the 10A's, the 1.2 TL's were lacking bass, no doubt. It's amazing that simply moving them back 4 inches could make a difference but it surely did.SDA SRS 2.3TL's

Something as little as a 4" move back can make a dramatic difference, but I doubt that even with the 1.2TLs(working properly) even further away from the back wall could be out-gunned by Mon 10s. I've had SRS 2 and I still have 10As and it was no contest between them in any category, especially bass response. There has to be something else, or your room is just got supernatural spirits running around **** with your head, telling you to sell those 1.2s to someone as fast as you can and for whatever they have in their pocket at the time. That way, by making you think you had gotten ahold of a **** pair of 1.2TLs( that were no doubt:rolleyes: out gunned by some Mon 10s), the spirits gave themselves more space in the room to screw around in......probably all dead wives of audiophiles with major WAF issues, that went to their death before their time and likely wacked by their hubbies who chose big-**** Polk SDAs over the the bitching.
Glad I got that off my chest...."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,

LMAO...too funny Noel. The monitor 10's are excellent speakers. Bass response is unbelievable. I had no idea that these speakers would sound this good. Thanks again for selling me the Peerless tweeter. As a side note, I noticed that there was static coming from both speakers and this problem was solved by using contact cleaner on the fuse holders.

I'm glad you mentioned your Formula 350. I bought an 89' Formula 350 back in 1991 but had to sell it as I had to choose between paying my college tuition or keeping the car. What size room do you have your 1.2s in? How much breathing room do they have?
Thanks.

That's ample space for 1.2s. They should pressurize that space quite nicely. My old SRS 2s would do a 455 sq ft room."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,
