Question about my 3000p tops (polk newbie)

Hi Guys -

I got a great deal on some Rti 3000P tops with a pretty decent polk center channel speaker tossed in (guy had the 3000p subs stored at his parents house - and their house burned down, so he was left with the tops).

I did not know a lot about the speakers, but when I got the pair of tops and the center for just $200 - I thought that would be a great deal!

I am looking at how I want to run everything - I have not found any of the 3000p subs for sale anywhere - so I am just looking at getting a different single powered sub for the time being (plus - I live in a townhouse neighborhood - I have to watch the bass). I am not too picky on it, still in the search, so if anybody has a suggestion - I would be willing to listen!

I am looking into picking up a new receiver - I have heard a lot of great reviews about the ONKYO TX-SR606, and I would be able to bi-amp the 3000p tops with it - which I understand would be a plus. Seems like it will be able to put out enough power for these speakers.

My question is - I understand the 3000p tops were not meant to run without the subs, and they have the built in 80hz Xover to block out the low end. Am I going to be limited in my sound running these without the intended subwoofer? Or will my sound fill out - if I get a decent single powered woofer to go along with this setup? I am just wondering if these will put out a decent sound for music and movies, without the bottom half they were intended to be with.

I have been reading a ton of threads on these speakers - but there seems to be some contradicting information - and info is a couple years old (I know they are older speakers to begin with).

Any tips on the speakers would be great - I know I am being vague - but I am just trying to figure out if the deal I got on these speakers makes them worth keeping, or if I am just trying to setup something that will never sound that great to my normal audio ears...
