I did not see a thread dedicated to this so I thought I would start one. Post anything you find that is audio/video related.

This is what I found today.

1.Jazz Masters cd Vol. 1 (.25)

2.Enya-The Memory of Trees (.25)

3.Test Masters (Audio Magazine cd) (.25) This cd is quite cool and the piano sounded incredible, one of the better sounding cds out there.....I thought someone put a piano in my living room, lol. Here is a link to it.....easier than trying to explain it (no affiliation). http://cgi.ebay.com/JEROME-LOWENTHAL-TEST-MASTERS-CLASSICAL-LISZT-NEW-CD_W0QQitemZ220329130740QQcmdZViewItem

4.really cool cd stand that is silver in color and has a big and heavy concrete base. Never seen one like this before. (.99)

Also saw a ton of the old records that played on the old rca type phonographs (the one with the horn looking speaker built in). They were in fantastic condition but I know next to nothing about them so I passed.

When I was in Pearl City, Hawaii I was in a Goodwill and found a McIntosh amp. It was like $120 bucks or something ridiculous like that. I didn't buy it only because I didn't know its condition and I couldn't fit it in my suitcase.

I got an Oki Color laser printer for $24.60:) Working!
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

I found a pair of KRK KROK monitors for $10, but it turned out that both tweeters were blown. Ended up trading them to a friend for an electronic crossover, so all turned out well. It terrible that all the thrift stores I've been too have a no-test/no-return policy with electronics...

$350:cool: It's valued at over 1000 dollars. They guy just didn't know what he had...which is amazing, pawn shops are usually all over that.

    How about Garage Sale finds?

This one made me mad as hell......
Happened about 15yrs ago but I'm still MAD!
We have this dork that runs a new/used store here and He is a big jerk ripoff artist.
(Wanna read about him check out http://mediaslob.com/)
Anyway I go to this Garage sale and I'm looking around......that idiot was there.
I walk over to a table that had clothes strewn on it and I see a receiver sticking out.
OMG it was a NAD in perfect condition!!! I walk over to pick it up and that slob butts in front of me and about grabbed it outta my hands.......mind you I had just reached for it.
He snags it up and goes over to the lady...."does this work" she says "yes".....He says "How much?" She says "$10"
So you can see why I'm still pissed to this day!
Naturally He put it in his store for $300 or so I heard from a friend.

I used to shop pawn shops looking for good deals, but now with ebay and craigslist, they seem to be one of the higher priced places to buy used.

Danny please educate me. What is so special about this CD? Is it one of the first CD's ever released?

It all depends. Most of my guitar rig came from pawnshops, you've just gotta be a daily customer basically, and wait for them to get the good deals. The stock at places like that changes on a daily basis.

I have a Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier head unit for my guitar rig...and only paid 900 bucks for it. Got it at the same pawn shop too. Those regularly sell for 1300-1400 used. The one I got was in need of retubing, and the case isn't perfect by any means...it's got quite a few scratches and dings on it...but that doesn't bug me any. I just happened to have some of the tubes that I needed laying around too. They were extras from the Carver amp head that I had before that. Sounds phenomenal now...I've never heard a better guitar amp.

I think this CD was used by Sony to demonstrate its CD players in the early days of the format and was not available for purchased by the general consumer. I guess it was also pressed in extremely few quantities. To think that the CD has survived almost 25 years (my CD was from 1985) and then end up in a pile of used CDs at Salvation Army, half a world away....

Some of the world's first CDs ever released can be seen here.

I got my first Polks at a pawn shop. RTi70's, CSi40 center, and a pair of R20's for $300.00 canadian dollars. A good deal I think. I've gotten tons of vinyl from thrift stores and garage sales this last year. Best scoop though was a Hafler DH-220 amp for $50.00.
Also at a garage sale I got my son a full Technics component system...amp, receiver (4 channel dolby), tape deck and five disk changer .... $15.00. Not to mention my first Carver piece an HR-772 receiver from a pawn shop for $65.00

I got my first set of Polks from a thrift store in Philadelphia. I used to go in there all the time to buy old computers when I would go down to visit my relatives. Went in and wandered over to the electronics and saw this nice, heavy pair of bookshelf speakers for $15. Got 'em home, found that they were some goofy "Polk Audio" things... 5jr's... with blown tweeters. And some internet searches later, I landed here.

Got rid of those when I got my Monitor 10's, then sold the Monitor 10's to my brother when I got my SDA 2's. :)
    Ludicrous gibs!

I scored Enya's Watermark on LP vinyl last week at a used store in pristine condition for $5.00. The one with Orinoco Flow. Very relaxing stuff.

Just got back from GoodWill and ran across this disc (paid a whole .99). This disc of Metallica's MOP sounds incredible. Much better than the original release that's for sure. Right now my Monitor 10s,Luxman amp,and my Infinity IL 120 sub are getting a heck of a workout (I cannot even hear myself yell barely). First time I have really pushed my system like this. Not pics I took but this is exactly what it looks like.

That is the "holy crap great deal" of all thrift store finds in my opinion. Unbelievable score!!! Congrats and enjoy. On Ebay in thrashed shape $25.00. Unopened $300.00 plus.
