My wife and I have noticed that while watching DVD movies there is a pause or freeze in every one for just a second or so. Just wondering why they seem to put it in there.
Thanks

It is caused by the layer change on dual layer discs.

Layer change . Most discs are dual layered and it's normal for the dvd player to pause as it begins to read the second layer.
Some players are better at changing then others but there will still be a slight pause.Polk Rt800i -Fronts
Polk cs400i -Center
Polk fx500i -side surrounds
Polk rc60i -rear surrounds
Onkyo TX-NR 1009 (9.2) receiver

Layer change - My Denon DVD2800 doesn't pause. Pretty cool.
It uses a buffer or dual lasers. Yep never a pause. -
