My First Complaint

I got my first complaint from my neighbor this morning. She said the "music" was too loud last night. (I wasn't listening to music. I was watching Resident Evil.)
Ah, an indication that the subwoofer is working properly!
Guess I'll have to turn the volume down. Damn does living in an apartment suck! Can't wait until I get a house... or the upstairs neighbor moves out.
Next time she's jumping up and down on the floor doing her aerobics, I'm gonna call management and complain.
Some people just can't appreciate a home theatre system. :supermad:

I hear ya. I'm in the same boat. I always put my speakers on a
sandwich of cork and styrofoam to isolate, but when it comes
to bass frequencies--those travel forever. Sitting in a multiplex
proves that.

As bad as I hate to, I may have to start turning down the volume of the subwoofer (or turning it off completely) late at night... although watching the movie at 9 pm isn't really considered "late" as she put it. The impression the neighbor gave the apartment community manager was that I was "rocking the house" at 2 in the morning.
By the way, I invited the manager to come watch a movie tomorrow afternoon. She's coming over to check out the system. Did I mention that the manager is cute? She's a hottie! (As long as the girlfriend doesn't know, hey I'm ok!) :cool:Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. - Albert Einstein -

Jeesh, whatever happened to neighbors talking to each other?
Anytime I've had a problem with a neighbor, I've talked to them about
it first, then the management, then law enforcement.
I've had to do all three at one time or another.
No one's ever complained about me, though. I guess I use restraint.

Exactly. That's what I said to the apartment manager. She said she was not noting it in my lease record since the upstairs neighbor never asked me to turn it down, talked to me about it, etc. She sent the neighbor a letter stating that before they would take action, she needs to talk to me to let me know what constituted too loud. She gave the neighbor my phone number.
When that lard butt starts doing her aerobics again, I'm gonna go right on up there and complain.
I guess she was afraid to come down here to tell me to turn it down, or maybe she was just lazy.
At any rate, it's not my intention to disturb the neighbors.Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. - Albert Einstein -

No sense buying a house now...
I knew the first 2 years of medical school I would be in one city, and I knew that I was going to do my last 2 years at a branch campus in another city, so there really isn't any need to buy a house for that.

I once complained about screams and floor tumbling above me to my apartment manager. The manager replied.... "Is he beating her again"?
Thankfully, they moved out shortly thereafter (within a month or two). -
I love being in college. I am probably as loud as you all are. The great thing is though, so is everyone else. Its awesome. I doubt I could possibly ever get a noise complaint without getting too ridiculous.

I live in an apartment too, but as far as the neighbors go, if they don't have the balls to actually talk to ME about my system being too loud, then they're gonna find themselves on the irritated side of things.
I live in an apartment complex that is pretty old, and i have cinder blocked walls and a concrete ceiling. I hear virtually nothing from anyone else, and they only hear me if I've got my front window open. I won't move into another apartment because they're all made so cheaply that i wouldn't ever last......comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -
