I bought some SDA 2, need help please!!

Okay everyone, I'm an infrequent poster, but I read the posts pretty often. I posted some pics of my Rotel, HK, and some other stuff a while back, and plan to put on a Pioneer SX-980 soon--man it is awesome. Now down to business...
I guess many here would congratulate me on getting a pair of SDA 2 speakers, I thought I would congrat. myself, but, they needed 3 tweeters and 2 woofers, plus the wiring was shot.
Using parts I have (proper part numbers) I replaced the defective drivers, and using the wiring schematic on this forum I re-wired the system. Now, here's the problem-they just don't sound like they should.
Granted, I do not have the proper cable to connect the two speakers together, but I have a makeshift that is doing the job. Wired one way, and one tweeter and one woofer doesn't work. Another way, and they do, and it gives a much fuller sound.
The problem is, using the wiring diagram I was able to figure out which wires went to woofers, and which went to tweeters, but I had to GUESS at the arrangement as far as which woofer wire goes on which woofer, which tweeter wire goes on which tweeter. Please continue to read if you can help me, I would LOVE to get these working right.
Here's what I did. The bottom crossover woofer out is wired to the bottom woofer, and the top tweeter on the opposite side of the cabinet. I'll make a diagram:

The O's are for the bottom woofer, and the tweeter that I have wired to the bottom crossover.
Now, on the other, the top crossover, I have like this:

X This shows that using the top crossover, the top tweeter that is above the two verticle woofers, and the two horizontal woofers are connected. Does anyone know that this is correct? Sorry for the rudamentary diagram, it's the best I can do at the moment.
I came to this conclusion because of the arrangement of the wires, and the best I could tell from the schematic. If anyone can help, or point me in a more layperson's diagram, I would very, very much appreciate it.
Thank you so much forum, I know someone will have some info for me. I'll post some pics of the speakers soon. They're pretty rough, but the cabinets are intact, as are the radiators, so I'm really hoping to get these sounding great!
As an aside, the main problem I can tell with the sound is, there's little bass. I can tell the speakers are pumping it out, but in the listening position there is nearly none. At one side, near one speaker or the other, there's plenty of bass, which would lead me to believe I have something out of phase, but I followed the diagram carefully as to not get anything out of phase. Please help if you can. Thank you again --Lee

It early and I didn't really follow the XO business too well but let cover the bass issue. These speakers use passive radiators and as such the cabinets and the assembly must be air tight to drive the PRs. Check it out this way: Push in gently on the the PR. The cones of the drivers should move out AND STAY OUT. When you release the PR, the cones should return to the original position. If not, you have something to troubleshoot and fix. Were talking bad gaskets around the drivers, cabinet integrety issues, torn surrounds.
As for the XO business, the dimensional array speakers are "outboard" in the layout. I think that's what you are asking.The world is full of answers, some are right and some are wrong. - Neil Young
