I've listened to quite a few Cerwin Vega's before...one of my best friends dads is a CV nut...he swears by them. He has I believe 4 different pairs of CV floorstanders. In my opinion though...they don't really have the best sound quality. They're great party speakers...you can crank those things to the moon and back and barely even phase them. They just really lack on clarity and definition in my opinion though. Like I said, they're great for parties, but as far as intent focused listening I'd look into something else.

I've never heard any of their smaller HT offerings though, except once in a short demo at an A/V store...I wasn't to impressed with them.

    Just my .02 cents.

I've never heard any of their subs before. The HT setup I was demoing was using a 15" MTX sub. I'm sure they'll pressurize the hell out of a room, I know their bigger floorstanders will. It might not be the highest quality sounding bass ever.

So it's pretty much like their car stuff? Quite loud but not the best.

I've never heard their car stuff before...but yeah, that's about the gist of it. Like I said...my buddies dad has some CV towers...and there were times I'd be heading over there and I'd be a block away and I could hear the things...lol. His main speakers now are some big CV towers that each have two 15's, as well as a couple mids and a tweeter. Not sure on the sizes on the mids or tweets though. Those things will pressurize a room like crazy...but the SQ just isn't there. Great party speakers though...as I can attest to from quite a few nights...lol

Yeah those speakers are ridiculous, if they're the ones I'm thinking of they have the two 15s, a 6.5" mid and like a 1" tweet. I'd love to hear those 15's kicking, pretty sure they go down to around 25hz, I'd love to have some towers with that kind of response, but you're right about the pressure, I'm pretty sure my head would explode.

They had two mids...I'm thinking they were probably 6.5 inchers.

Actually, nevermind. Maybe they did each only have one mid. I'm not positive...but I think these are the ones he has.

I got a kick out of it...on their website under their name it says that they're "The LOUD Speaker Company"...that's a pretty accurate description...

I was just forced to replace my Polk CS1 center channel with a tiny bit smaller speaker because the polk would not fit into a tv cabinet that I bought. I went with a cerwin vega that is about 1 inch shorter with the same speaker config. Not even a question which sounds better. Polk is clearer with none of that hollow/echo sound. Cerwins may be a little cheaper but don't do it, learn from my mistake:-)

I got the same one, the sound difference from one to the other is huge. I thought them being in the same price range and almost the same size, there wouldnt be a big sound difference but wow! The Cerwin just sounds very hollow to me, maybe I just need to do some tweeking on the tuner to get it right with the rest of my setup (all polk). I am having some tower problems at the moment. See Blown tweeters thread :-(

Buy some Poly Fill from a crafts store and install it behind the woofer(s). It will help with the hollow sound but may reduce bass output.

I have some here. Do you mean to just wrap around the frame/magnet on the back side and maybe attach with small zip ties

You put it in the cabinet behind the woofers, you don't attach it directly to them. You can attach it to the back of the cabinets if you want.
