Hey guys, I just picked up a Fisher RS-911A receiver dirt cheap. I can't seem to find much information on this receiver. Does anyone know anything about it. It is probably from the late 80's. It has a built in 5 band EQ on it. It seems decent for a bedroom or secondary system. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not familiar with that particular receiver, but I've always loved Fisher. Is that one of their tube amps or is it a solid state?

I've got a Fisher Studio Standard 332 myself. It's not one of their real high end offerings, but I like it. I believe it was made in the late 70's or so...possibly 1978.

edit-just looked it up, I see it's a solid state. About all I can find out about it is that it's 100 watts per channel. You probably already knew that though.

It is a Studio Standard Receiver. My first set of speakers that I still have from high school are some big fishers. They always sounded sweet to me. This receiver is nice but it is nothing like the Luxman R-117 I also picked up recently. I don't know much about Fisher Studio standard products. Were they the higher end Fisher products of the 1980's?

I'm not sure if they were the higher end models or not. I don't think so though. I know their tube amps are the ones that people are usually going after...it doesn't seem like their solid state amps are anywhere near as desirable.

The one I have is way different than the one you're talking about though. Mine's from the late 70's I believe.

    Here's the one I've got...I like it.

I haven't really used it in a long time though, cuz it's badly in need of some CAIGs Deoxit right now...It'll be getting set up in a 2 channel system here soon though. I'm just trying to hunt down a pair of Monitor 5's or Monitor 7's to use with it at the moment. I've gotta pick up another CD player for it sometime too...the one that I have to use with it at the moment is pretty bad...

Your right mine is not the higher end of all Fisher receivers. I was wondering if it was on the higher end of Fisher receivers of the mid 80's. It sounds pretty good matched up with my SDA 2B's.
