:):)Just an idea I am kicking around with the demise of CC... perhaps we could create a list of electronics stores that we know of and share the info in list form here. This will provide us a list of retail locations we can go to for our needs, especially on the upper end of things....

www.pflanzzone.com one store shop in Iowa

www.frys.com small chain with stores mostly out west

let me know if this is a good idea or not

thanks

Sounds like a great idea. And there are already a couple of listings that I haven't heard of. Retailers are starting to drop like flies. And lots of gear is being discounted below its margin points?

I'm up in Maine so there isn't much up here unless you're in Bangor or Portland and even then not much. One thing we do have is a great little repair shop in the capital which can refurbish your old gear, i.e., turntables, cassette players, speakers, Stereo Receivers and so on...a part-time guy who calls his shop the Stereo Doctor. Brought my 18 year old Akai cassette deck back to life. I know, who listens to cassettes anymore?

There's a store in Portsmouth New Hampshire called, State Street Discount that's not bad. And New England Hi-Fi in Scarborough, Me. The CC demise is a bit scarey, Tweeter died a much quicker death. And I'm not even sure how many others are gone as well at this point.

Maybe it would also be a good idea to post list of no longers?

J&R in addition to being an internet site is also a retailer in NYC with a pretty good store right below City Hall. I used to live in Manhattan years ago.

    Nice work above!

In Richmond there are not to many "good" audio/video stores. Here are a few that are half way decent.

    http://luminousaudio.com/
    http://www.blueoasisaudio.biz/index.html

I learned about this site from the Polk forums. Pretty cool little place.

Found this list one day when looking around. Some links do not work but then again I have not even begun to try them all.

Bumping an older thread...thought I'd share
I was in Willow Grove, PA the other day and stumbled across two stores I didn't know existed, at least not locally:
    Bob and Rons Worldwide Stereo:
One in Montgomeryville, PA and the other in Ardmore, PA

Now this is a nice shop--definitely higher end--Lots of B&W, Macintosh, Klipsch, JL Audio, NAD, Rotel, Runco, etc. Nicely designed demonstration theater rooms. They remind me of Tweeter a bit, esp the newer Tweeter that was in DE.
Holy mackerel--JL Audio's Gotham??? That thing is like a small refrigerator--its a beast-I can't imagine what that thing does to one's insides.
And the Klipsch Palladium? sweet looking. I didn't get to do any listening.
They did not have any Polk Audio products. :(
Anybody want a display model Runco 1080P PJ beast for only $4k (from 8K)?? They have one.

Then as I was leaving there, I saw 6th Ave. Electronics across the street, well I couldn't pass that up. Outside appearances left me with a low end feeling, but that was different once inside-much nicer than I expected. Granted they have lots of stock on the floorspace, but they have quite a few demo rooms with lots of space and lots of stuff to choose from. Kind of reminded me of Fry's, except the only Fry's B&M I've been to was in San Diego and it was a monster of a place that I got lost in for hours. 6th Ave carries a more limited selection of products mainly for Home Theater and camaeras and such. They seemed to have a pretty good selection of stuff.
They DO carry the Polk Audio LSI and RTI lines. At least a portion of them :D Also saw a lot of KEF and DefTech.

And from the looks of the Wilmington, DE address, it looks like they took over the old Circuit City space. Hmm, I might have to check that out for some good ol' tax free electronics shopping. :)

That's correct, they moved into the old Circuit City building on RT202 in Wilmington.

Yeah, I love going to Lewis Audio & Video. Their guys are very well informed and passionate about audio and video.

And the theater room they have to test out movies? Amazing!
