The XPA-3 combined with the A7s is a match made in heaven. I have an XPA-3 powering my RTi10s and absolutely love it. That amp has done wonderful things for my RTi10s that other amps I have tried on them (Monster Power MPA3250, Adcom GFA 545 and 555) did not do.

Leroy1, maybe it's the amp, as I have my XPA-3 powering my RTi10s, and the GFA 555 powering the RTi8s, but the addition of the XPA-3 to the RTi10s woke up the speakers in a big way across the whole frequency spectrum. I used to be in the camp that believed the RTi8s had superior midrange to the RTi10s, but that's not the case anymore with my setup. I am now getting superior midrange with the RTi10s hooked up to the Emotiva than I am the RTi8s hooked up to the Adcom. Maybe I need to hook up one of the RTi8s to the XPA-3 and see how it responds to that.

From what it sounds like though, with living in an apartment and powering the speakers off of a reciever, he is probably going to be better off with the A5s anyways. I also highly recommed what the others are saying about the addition of a good sub. You will definitely need this to get the most out of your A5s and system in general.

I said in a previous post that i'm getting an AMP along with whatever speakers i buy. But i've made my decision, i'm getting the RTi A7's along with an Emotiva XPA-3, the RTi A5's just don't appeal to me for some reason.

Thanks for the help everyone. :D

    Awesome man!!!

I think you'll be fine without a sub, when i had my RTi10's, i had no sub and my system sounded awesome. Sure it could possibly sound better with a sub, but you'll be happy as hell with or without one i bet. Good luck! :)

I'm tempted to actually do the same thing your doing. I've decided on the A9's, but if i get those i won't be able to afford an amp for a while, and i've heard that with the A9's you NEED an amp. Tough stuff making these decisions, haha...(for me anyways)

Cool. I think you'll really enjoy that setup. You'll never really miss the sub when listening to music. You might want to eventually think about getting one for home theater purposes, but the A7s with the XPA-3put out surprisingly good bass. Again, I think you'll be very happy with that setup. Let us know what you think after you get everything hooked up and have had a chance to listen to it for a while. Keep in mind the speakers will need break in, so they will sound sweeter and sweeter as time goes by until broken in. Enjoy!

In my setup, I run an external amp for my (150Wpc) A5's with a decent sub (PSW 505)on the LFE. I cross my sub over as 160HZ(as per this forum), The midrange and vocal sound of the A5 is full and precise. I think this a match made in heaven.

So I guess this id one vote for the A5's and a sub.

Does anyone know how much longer the Emotiva XPA-3 will be on sale?

I would just call but they are not open. Just thought maybe someone here might know.

Metal 83, I talked to a Rep. at Emo last week. He said the sale ends after the Super Bowl, but said they would make exceptions into the week following. Nice people! This gives me more time to try to grab one, short on funds at the moment.
