analog outputs question

I just got a great deal on a Sony S550 Blu-ray player and I have questions about the 5.1 (7.1) analog outputs. I have a Pioneer Elite 72txv receiver, which is a couple 3 years old so it doesnt decode the newest high-def formats. Because of this, I will be using the analog outs from the Sony to my Pioneer. How exactly does this work? Do I just set the Sony player to output via the analog outputs, and I'm good to go?

Will I have to manually adjust the bass mgmt now on the Pioneer? I heard that if you use analog inputs, that you may have to increase the bass by 10db or so?

Finally, I bought 3 pairs of RCA cables from Monoprice for about $14 shipped..is that fine for the 5.1 analog? I didn't want to spend $60 at Bestbuy for RCA cables:p

Sorry for all of the questions..but I had to order the Sony, because the store didnt have any in stock, so I wont get it until next week..

thanks!

If that's a menu option for audio output (I'm not familiar with it's options), I'd say yes. Then when watching a blu ray movie, press the "Multi-Channel" button, instead of the "DVD" button, for the receiver.

Most receivers won't apply bass management to multi-channel inputs. Not sure if your's is one or not. Try it and see if it makes a difference. You may need to make the +10db adjustment, in the player's setup menus.

The three pairs of Monoprice RCA cables should work just fine. I think most people use two sets of component cables for this, since they have a higher bandwidth (75 ohm, I think), normally used for video.
    Good luck!
