ME...........have used Paypal for over 1,000 transactions and never a problem....use a special bank account for just paypal, never a credit card...never give access to my main accounts and never even a bump in the road....sent a USPS money order for the first time to Mr D for his Adcoms...sent certified, need a picture ID, send me a copy of the sig etc etc....mailed from St Paul Mn on 1/7/2009 at 9:38am...
tracking # 7004 2510 0002 0362 7692
and now...vanished :( theres no track of it....says it was accepted at MN but no one knows where it is... on either end....some said might be the weather ,but I have mailed letters on Mon that have arrived in Texas already....PO will not even trace for at least 30 days
have spoken with Ed at the local PO and letter never got there, not a real big PO, so not alot of certified letters, plus all are scanned when they arrive at the final destination. This really sucks as I really dont have an extra 800 in my back pocket...stop order filed today on the MO and they charged me for that  oh well &#@% happens even to those who have good intentions I guess.....MO can still be cashed by sellar with proper ID my refund filed which takes 60 days is in case it was lost, stolen or cashed by someone not providing the proper ID....post master in MN still had hope it would arrive sometime this week,,but weeks almost over........SO........................

USPS suck............ PayPal is great IMHO

You must be fairly young I 'm guessing?... Believe it or not there was life and there were transactions going on long before the first thought about PayPal.

I too have used PayPal at least a few hundred times without a hitch since their conception but I've also used (and still use) USPS M/Os closer to a thousand times without a hitch. I think what it amounts to is just like you said, !*@# happens.

Good luck, hopefully it'll all work out.

Trust me,, no one more than me hopes that it shows up,,fortunately for me,, the seller of the tube amp that I'm going to buy is a patient man. I had this happen to me once,, the postal worker reversed the last two digits of the zip code on the letter and it delayed delivery by about 10 days.

Why me though? Our local Hooterville Post Office just dosen't like me, I guess.
JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)
