Suggest me a good standard DVD player

As you can see in my Sig, I'm in the middle of a dedicated HT set-up project, and am only missing a CD / 2nd disk DVD player. I don't nessecarily need upconvert because the Onk876 is supposed to have some of the best upconvert software built in (REON). I'd like a 5-6 disk changer or a REALLY good single disk under $200, and obviously it's going to have to have excellent DAC's and optical/digital coax out since I plan to use it as my primary CD player as well.

So, suggest away - if you could have any sub $200 non BluRay player, what would it be and why? I'm leaving this one piece of my home theater completely up to you - the skilled and mighty minds of the Polk forum.

Thanks!

I'm gonna second the Oppo suggestion.

    http://www.oppodigital.com/dv980h/default.asp

That one retails for about 170 or so. It'll upconvert DVD's to 1080p, plus it will play SACD and DVD-A as well.

Skip the Oppo. It's decent, but the Pioneer DV-48AV uses the same chipset for upconverting and decoding audio. Better build quality, longer warranty, and as was stated, it's only $99.

I see they are out of stock now though. "Coming soon". There is a new model too, same price as the 980:

Pioneer DV-59avi for $200 would be my choice. Best audio and video you'll get for the money, methinks. I had one and absolutely loved it. Great upconversion, HDMI, SACD, worked like a champ. No delay in playback. Totally reliable. Attractive. Intuitive setup for video and audio.

Check out the refurb & b-stock Denon stuff (dakmart is an authorized re-seller). I have the 2900 and I think it's fantastic. Dakmart has one for $189 (I paid over 500 for mine years back). It will probably do everything you want (and more).

    Ok,

    Oppo 980 yeah, that's a good player.

Pioneer also makes a good player and like the Oppo they play 'everything'

I own the higher model of that Yamaha player. Music is no question, the player is probably better on audio than it is on video--it makes a nice cheaper CD player...which is what I really use it for.

I use a Toshiba HD-DVD player as an upconverting DVD, if you can still find one of those around don't hesitate--great upconversion for SDVD works well with Onkyos (that's what I have) and if you can find one these days..they'll be way below 100 dollars?
