I am looking for a new head unit to replace my current Yamaha RX-v2500 becuase I want an HDMI connection for audio. The Yamaha is basically used as a tuner and pre/pro since I power use a separte 5 channel amp for the 5 main HT channels. I run a 7.1 set-up, but I really don't NEED the back 2 channels given my room size with the back 2 channels on the Yamaha. I also power "zone 2" off the Yamaha.

Any suggestions? I want to stay under $1,000. I am gun shy on used equipment becuase I have been burned a few times over the last few years (none from the flea market, they were on ebay and local craigs list).

Looking at pure pre/pro very none (Emotiva had one and ended production) seem to have a small zone 2 amp, and I really don't have the space to add another separate amp for zone 2. But ideally I would like to find one.

Sony Style has some closeouts for last year's ES line of AVRs that looks appealing. Since I am not really needing the amp section, I am not very concerned about wpc or quality of the AVR amp section. I am really just looking for something that has a solid pre-pro section. The other thing I am trying to find (with little luck) is confirmation on whether (1) the AVR properly handles the LFE if it receives LPCM over HDMI and (2) if it can decode AAC internally and eliminate the need to use LPCM from the source (normally a PS3).
