Sub / amp recommendations

My son's Jeep Cherokee has been running the stock stereo for toooo long. I began by replacing his front door speakers with db651s (slim) speakers, and the rear hatch area roof speakers with the db521 speakers. The stock radio hit the can, in favor of an Alpine 9884.

Now it's time for an amp and sub. We are definitely on a Tight budget (notice I capitalized Tight). I was thinking of running the rear 521's off the HU (18w ea.), and buying an Alpine MRP300 amp to run the front 651's (50w each), then bridging channels 3/4 to run a Polk db840 sub (150w @ 4ohm). What do you think? Enough power for the 840? Good balance? Also, with limited power, I was wondering about the sub box. Son likes tight bass, but 150w may require a ported box to get the volume?

The 8" DB is a good choice but I highly suggest getting a dedicated sub amp. How about something like this Profile 200 watt 2 channel amp for $80. Hard to beat.

I dont know what your budget is but how about something like this DB 12" for $90 here and then run it off this Profile 480 watt 2 channel amp for $110 here then get this 80x4 Profile amp for your front speakers here.

This would be $230 for amplification as opposed to $180 for the single Alpine. Yeah its $40 more but youd have twice the performance.

Thx for the reply. I don't know much about the Profile's. I've seen them on Crutchfield's website, but questioned the quality and durability (because of the low low prices, I guess). Any comments?

A 12" bass is probably too much for our application (too much bass, and too much storage room taken up in the back). He likes nice tight and accurate bass, to compliment, not to rattle the neighbors outta bed. The 8" subs seem to be not very popular, and the enclosure options are limited. Maybe a 10" in a sealed enclosure?

I was thinking about this combo last night:
    Alpine 9884
    db651s
    db521
    Alpine MRP-300 (50w x 4 for these four spkrs) ($179 at Crutchfield)
JL Audio 10" W1v2 -or- Polk 10" db1040 (in a sealed box) (about $99 ea.)
    Alpine MRP-450 (220w x 1) ($149 at Sonic Electronix)

Money-wise, by the time I purchase an enclosure, wiring kits, cap, etc...this would be the upper limits of my contribution to my son's musical experience.
