What's a good setup for 3.1

Hey guys, I'm having troubles figuring out what setup to use. I normally used 2.1 Stereo on my receiver. I recently purchased a Csi5, now I'm having trouble picking a set up. My subwoofer doesn't seem to be working, but when I do the calibration test with the optimizer mic, it receives a good signal for the subwoofer. When I watch a movie or play music, the subwoofer doesn't seem to produce any bass.

It did work when I had 2 RTi 10's (2.1 Stereo).

Any solutions? Do I use 7.1 Stereo???

Any help will be helpful, thanks guys!

do you have the subwoofer setup in the receiver as lfe+main or both....depends what your receiver calls it.

for the Option "LFE/Bass Out" It's set on SWFR.

    The options I have are

    "SWFR" , "FRONT", "BOTH"

I am currently using a 3.1 setup. On my Denon reciever I have it set to 5.1 and my subwoofer engages. Not sure if that helps or whether that is even the reason why your Subwoofer isnt working but mine is working.

I would try using 5.1 on your receiver. I don't think most receivers have a 3.1 setting. I assume you have the sub connected to the LFE output on your receiver? That should definitely work with movies. How is your DVD player's audio connected to the receiver? I would recommend using any digital output if you can. Most receivers will automatically select the correct surround sound mode if it's digital.
