Is this possible? I found a lp that I want to get but need it on a cd. It isn't available on itunes or anywhere that I could find. I found the lp on EBay. I live in a big city, just don't know if this is possible. If so, any idea how much it would cost?

Radioshack sells a turntable for $100 with a usb cable and rca's so you can transfer it to your pc. I couldnt tell you the quality of the turntable though.

Learn to Whap A Dang by The Raunch Hands. I used to have the cassette years ago and would like to listen to it every now and then on my ipod. I don't really want to spend a hundred dollars. I was hoping I could take it somewhere and they could do it for me.

Hey Mike, on this topic, have you tried any vinyl transfers with the new cartridge yet? If yes, how did they turn out? After all the glowing reviews on that cart I'm giving serious consideration to picking one up.

I foundthe lp for less than $20 on EBay. Wish I could find someone around Oklahoma to make me a cd. I don't think I will spend $65. Where do you live Keiko? That might be an option. I could buy the lp, have it sent to you and then you could send it back. How much $$ are we talking about?

Wonder how much the shipping would cost? I can get it shipped to me for about $4. Maybe I could just bring it. My wife and I went to Maui in 2007 and sure would like to make another visit. Let me do some checking around. Thanks for the offer. I am going to email the seller and ask a few questions.

I've been seeing this ION brand stuff around for transfering records and tapes to CD's or MP3.
Looks like a POS China made joke to me.
Kinda pricey for the build quality IMHO.
Bed Bath and Beyond here has em so I saw em in person.
Anyone ever heard of anyone trying em?

Don't need much of a reason to go to Hawaii, just the money. It is a beautiful place. Looks like I got someone in OK that is willing to help me out. Maybe we can work something out. Thanks for all the help and suggestions.

I'm south of OKC if Dennis gets sidetracked. Just checked out my old Pioneer turntable yesterday that's now my daughter's. Cahoots sounded really nice on it. :)
It and her hand-me-down Technics receiver would likely suffice to jack into a laptop.
I just gotta recall how I did that the last time about 5 years ago with a LP of Pablo Casals at the JFK White House, circa 1962.

I've done it before, Keiko, most recently with cassettes tho. I'm pretty sure there's an output on my daughter's receiver that will work, and I've got lots of adapters.
I'd likely take my laptop over, and I'm wondering if it's worth bringing an external USB Creative Extigy soundcard along. I was using that with the cassettes, but now I forget why... Maybe to control input volume...

Appreciate the info, tho. I like Audacity, seeing as it's basically all that CoolEdit Pro, which is now Adobe something, used to be.

RJaco just PM'd me, so we're talking. I don't want to talk him out of a trip to Hawaii, but for now this might quell his jones. ;)

So maybe you are one. A simple " I don't want to do it". Would have been enough.

Thought you might be a preacher or something. Guess I was wrong. What is the big deal? You would be making a copy for me, not you. It really isn't that bad, just kind of weird. I have heard a lot worse on the radio.

Don't start with me if you're the unknown guy who shows up with your hand out wanting a freebie. I'm Ignoring you from this point on, so don't PM me either.

I have no problem paying and have offered. He pm'd me saying he didn't want to be rude but thought he would pass. I couldn't understand what the big deal was but not a problem. It isn't that big of a deal one way or the other. I thought he was a preacher or something. Then I came here and saw his post. I thought it wasn't necessary after the pm. I may have someone here in OKC that can do it. If they won't, maybe Dennis still will do it for me.

The thing at the end of the arm on the turntable is called a cartridge. The pointy part of the cartridge is the stylus. You should not confuse that item with the person who does your hair.

Okay, sorry for the confusion RJaco. I posted it here so the other guys who are able to do this for you would know you still needed assistance.
I'm not a preacher, but I do get preachy on occasion. Good luck with it.

As for snaps and pops on a deteriorated LP, the decent transfer softwares will have algorithms to filter them, or for the bad ones you can do it manually with the .wav form. They're visible and obvious. Timeconsuming, but I've done lots. You can even paste/ master in sections for really bad areas.
Keiko can fill in the details, I'm sure.

I have two people in Oklahoma that have offered. One locally and then Dennis said he would do it. If they fall through, I will get in touch with Mike K. Keiko, I am not sure what shipping is like to Hawaii. I can get it shipped to me for about $4. Still waiting to here from the seller. Trying to find out if they will ship to a different address than my paypal address. Some will some won't.

John 30_30-- It is all good. Maybe we were both having a bad day. It just seemed like you made a big deal out of it. And I didn't feel like you should have. Everything is cool with me.

Looks like I have several people willing to help me out and I appreciate it.

By the way. This is the first thread that I have ever had that made it to the second page. That is sad.

My friend uses an Ion turntable, but not the one with the built-in cd recorder. He sends the music to his computer, so he can take the pops and noise out. His TT doesn't sound bad at all..........

Here's another possibility, especially if you want to do quite a few album transfers:
