I know this forum is for Polk Audio, but iam thinking of replacing my CS245i with the Klipsch RC-3. I have monitor 10A as front and Monitor 6 as surround. I read good reviews for the Klipsch RC-3. I want to go for CS400i but it is costly, i got a good deal for Klipsch Rc-3, I just want to know whether it will mate well with my other polk audio or CS245i is better than Klipsch RC-3.

The reason why iam replaig my center is that the dialogues are not clear because my monitor 10's are getting more attraction than my center.

Your opinion is welcome.

Thanks,

I would suggest that you get the best speaker that you can afford that sounds good to you regardless of the brand. I have the 400i and love it.

Having said that, I have my doubts of how well the Klipsch well blend with your Monitor 10's. I have listened to some Klipsch set ups at the hifi shop downtown and I really wasn't terribly impressed. Some folks swear by them, a buddy of mine has a set of KG-4s that he would marry given the opportunity and I think my Pioneer CS-88's sound just as good. Different stokes for left handed people I guess.

I have the Polk CS400 (no "i"), bought at Circuit City for some low price because it was a display model and the "i" models had come out. It's a _very_ good center channel speaker.

You can probably pick one up reasonably cheap off of ebay.

The speaker is *definitely* worth buying, and it will match your Monitor 10's perfectly.

While you're saving up, you should increase the center speaker's volume level, there should be a control for that somewhere on your HT receiver.

    HTH,

I tried increasing the center, it doesn't help much. I like mostly drama's and conspiracy movies. These kind of movies give more improtant to vocals thats what bothers me more. I will keep an eye on the ebay listing.

    hi again...

I think you'd really get an audio mismatch with the horn tweeter on the Klipsch RC-3 and the dome tweeters on your Monitor 10's. If you can, bring one home and test it with your system.

Full list for the 400i is $480 or so. Crutchfield wants $400. But... if you search the web, you can find prices much lower. Just feed the model number to Google. Of course, I'd only endorse using an authorized Polk dealer.

Also, once you get that low price off the web, consider talking to your local Polk dealers... a good audio store can be a great resource, and they can sometimes wiggle on prices if it'll mean more business (and remember to factor in the cost of shipping to your best online price). Treat them with respect if you try this angle; if you're rude and treat them like they owe you something just because you found a lower price elsewhere, you'll get nowhere.

....You want a CLEAR center channel, that reproduces voices very naturally and clear? Try and find a used PSB Century series center. Another great center is the new B&W LCR3, which can be had for $220. It is crystal clear, and matches up with soft/hard domes pretty well.

I have not heard the 245, but I did have a 300 and loved it. I say it (300) was better than the 400, esp on voicing, and speech.

If you don't go Polk, I wouldn't go Klipsch, unless of course YOU like the way it sounds....

As the poster above mentioned, Klipsch is a total mismatch with your Polks.

    Cheers,

I would suggest a used CS350LS as well.....That, IMO, is a fat center speaker as well. hoosier21 had one on the flea mkt for 175. Anything but Klipsch, those are painful to listen to.

    Russ,

for less than $200, you can go wrong with the CS300 or CS350LS, both are top performers, someone is selling the CS350LS in the flea market section for $175, heck of a deal...

I got the Klipsch setup. It looks better than CS245i. I dont feel the horn tweeters very attractive (the high freq. in female voices are not clear). But other than that it looks better than CS245i. It takes bass better than CS245i. I dont have the sub (living in apartment :-( ). So i set the front and center as large. I think klipsch isokay. Now i have to try the CS400i.
Iam also thinking of using RT55i as center. So will get it also done
