Looking to upgrade my vintage RTA 12's and have a line on RT2000i's. Will thy sound better? I would like a little better bass and thought the 2000's with the powered sub would help. I am concerned they might not play loud enough with only one driver. Help.

Oh they will play plenty loud. The powered tower is not the in thing but if set up properly can sound damn good. The single driver will limit your mids but if set up and dialed in right will sound amazing. The 2000's are very efficient but they sound even better with 200 watts or more.

Thanks for the reply. Are you saying they will sound better than my old RTA's? If so that is is good. I have a Pioneer elite reciever with 140 wpc. Is 140 enough power to push the 2000's?

I would suggest that you are not getting the best out of your RTA's with a receiver.

I have owned several PE receivers and they match up well with the 2000's. I guess you are running a 94 or new 07, if you have 140 watt. I was running my 54 before I got some amps to use with it.It will sound great. But I would agree with F1nut that receiver power is not giving you all the perks of either speaker.
If you are staying with receiver only the 2000's with the powered section are going to be an easier load on your receiver in my opinion.

Makes sense. I am running a PE 74. Speaker are CS400i for center and FX500i for surrounds. I have an old pair of JBL L100 in a second room for the 2 other channels but really hurts sounds if you try to push very hard. I have read some reviews that complain that the mid section is a little weak on the 2000's. I also read on Polk's website that the 2000 was a RT35i mounted on a sub. It did not make me feel very good. I want to like these speakers just don't want to make a mistake.
