I think Panasonic has gotten the act together. They have made stellar performers thus far. Excellent load times, great playback, etc. If BD live had more to offer I would go for the new 80 and move the BD30 to the bedroom. We'll see how the prices are though.

I was thinking the same thing... Wonder how many of these they'd actually sell?

Seriously... anyone who is interested in BR, why would they want to look at a VHS??

Why??? Why do we need new players from Panasonic already? Nothing has changed enough to warrant a change. The 55 is a fantastic all around player and I see no reason for another one.

    I don't get it.

55 is last years models, right? Usually every year a new line-up comes out from about every manufacturer.

    +1

I don't get it either. I think the Panasonice BD55 is only about 3 or 4 month's old itself. They are just releasing new models because they can.. and to confuse consumers and to think they have more players than any other company.
    PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

I have switched gears alittle on my reality. I'm around gear now that stays around for awhile. I'm into that. I'm actually getting worn on NEW!!!. If that makes any sense.

I fully understand, I'm actually the same way! I'm just going to stick to my good old PS3 for awhile... If the new Oppo does everything perfect, I might be interested in that later on down the road.

I'm really sick of the all the Pre's that are out lately... I can't find anything that I want that didn't have some kind of "bug" that I didn't like. So, I grabbed a Pioneer Elite SC-07 and use that as my pre and I couldn't be any happier at this point. This new AVR is leaps and bounds better than my old Elite 74TXVi. Sounds kinda dumb that I bought this with the ICE amps and not even using them, but it decodes all the latest audio formats and has zero HDMi bugs. The MCACC is wonderful also!!

I'm just reclaiming some storage space and found about 400 hours of VHS tapes, mostly of our now teen kids. We used VHS until burning DVD's became easy a few years ago. I've thinned the VHS units in the house to just 1 or 2 and they are getting to the end of their useful lives. This is a reason I would buy one. Panasonic is making some great products these days. We have both their 50 and 58" 1080p plasma screens and the picture quality is excellent.

I bet that combo VHS/BD player will probably sell pretty well actually. I know plenty of people who still have hundreds of VHS tapes that they still watch on a regular basis. Myself included. I won't buy one personally...but I already have a nice VCR, so I wouldn't really need it. Upscaling of VHS to 1080p is a cool feature though.
