I basically want to set up a simple 2.1 system but still be able to upgrade in the future. I don't have a sub yet but I should be getting one in the next few weeks. I am brand new to all of this and I was just wondering what the best way to hook all of this up was. I have done some reading about bi-wiring and I was wondering if that would be a good idea for me and how I would go about that. Just shoot me any ideas. Thanks.

Good choices and great plan. The Onkyo will allow you to upgrade slowly.
With tower speakers like the TSi500 as your main L and Rs, you can easily start off with a great sounding 2 channel system, then slowly add the other components- surrounds, subs, center etc. Just change the configuration in the setup menu of the Onkyo.-Eric

I ordered 12 gauge speaker wire and bannana connectors? is that correct and how easy is it to connect

are you making your own bi-wires? if you choose to bi-wire make sure you remove the jumpers on the posts on the back of the speakers. otherwise just one run of wire to the top posts with the jumpers on will sufficeLife without music would♭

Is there any reason why i need to run the cable to the top set. or does it matter?

depends on what how you want to run them. bi-wire w/o jumpers or how they come factory with jumpers and only need to run to top or bottom with jumpersLife without music would♭
