Question About Towers
Hey guys, i'm planning on selling my RTi 10's so i can upgrade to the RTi A7's or A9's (still undecided and waiting for Polk Audio Direct to have either of these in stock).
Is it possible to just use the center (CSi A6) and rears (RTi A3) without having my towers hooked up? I'm running them off of a Pioneer Elite 92 if that makes any difference. This will only be temporary of course, i just have to wait for Polk Audio Direct to actually have some instock, and then of course wait for whatever i choose to be shipped.
Oh and couple of questions in regards to choosing the A7's or A9's. I noticed the A9's have smaller drivers, and the A7's drivers match with my center and rears, so if i got the A9's instead would that matter that the drivers don't match? And would i be able to run the A9's using my Pioneer Elite 92 for a while?
Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance..:)

If im not mistaken, the A7's are the same as the Rti10 except in a updated cabinet. Most people have said they cant tell much of a difference. Plus that isnt a upgrade but a lateral move. I would look at something like the lsi's and a seperate amp, or a 8ohm speaker that is a upgrade, like the svs MTS-01.Living Room setup: Pioneer Elite VSX-21TXH, Krell KAV 300i, PS Audio DL III DAC, Tyler Acoustics Taylo 7u, Dynaudio Audience 120C+, SVS 25/31PCI, B-P-T Clean Power Center, Ps3, Panny 50" S1 Plasma, Tekline speaker cables, Audio Art interconnects, and Pangea power cables.

Well the thing is i know that the A7's are basically the same, but i'm going to be getting them at pretty much the same price i got the 10's for, and they will match the rest of my system. I like the looks of the A7's much better than that of the 10's, so that alone is worth it for me personally. But i've been thinking about the A9's as well, which would be an upgrade that i'm sure would be noticeable. Those are the only 2 speakers i'm currently trying to decide upon, the rest of my system as i've said above is all the RTi A line and i'd like my towers to be the RTi A series as well. Everything is practically brand new, the center, the rears, the towers, so i'm not trying to get rid of everything. I already have a guy that wants to buy my 10's and i'm getting what i paid for them. I'm not going to bother considering anything besides the A7's or A9's, i'm indecisive as it is and having to pick between these two is hard enough for me..:o
What i was wondering is if i can use my setup without towers for a little bit while i wait for whichever towers i order?
And also if the A9's match well with the CSi A6 and RTi A3's even though the drivers are different sizes?
And if the Pioneer Elite 92 would be ok to run the A9's for a while if those are what what i decide to get? -
Ok well nevermind, i found the answers.
Yes, yes and yes...:)
All though i'm still not sure how i'd run just my center and rears without the towers. Run the MCACC again i suppose, maybe. In any case i shouldn't have to do it for that long. Now i just need to wait for Polk Audio Direct to get some more stock.
Edit: Polk Audio Direct has some of both of those speakers (A7's and A9's) in stock finally, nice! -
I'd just move the A3's to the front temporarily. Should be easy enough to unplug from the back and plug them into the front channels.
I'd imagine the A9 would still blend just fine even with the different sized mids. If you have the money, I say go with the A9. Either choice would be a great speaker though.
You'd eventually want to get an external amp though probably. That AVR won't be able to power the A7's or the A9's to their full potential, but I'm sure it would do fine until you were able upgrade. The nirvana inducer-

Haha, yeah that probably would be my best bet huh, just using the A3's up front until i get the new towers.:o
I do plan on getting an external amp eventually, i'll actually probably use a little bit of my income tax money to pick one up. All though to be honest i don't know that much about external amps so i'll have to do a lot of research before i buy one. -

I'm not to knowledgeable about amps myself...but there are plenty of people around here that are, so I'm sure you'll be able to get some help finding a good match when you're ready to get one.

I'm not sure really sure yet. I mean i love my 10's but want the A7's because i like the way they look much better (and i will be paying almost the same price since i'm getting what i paid for my 10's). But those A9's are very tempting, it would be a stretch money wise but still, it may just be worth it. I guess i'm still a bit torn, or indecisive is a better way to put it lol.
The only thing i don't really like about my current speakers (the 10's) is that they do seem to lack a bit of midrange. Sometimes i question if there even firing until i hear an explosion in a movie or something with bass, but i'm still fairly new to all this so what do i know lol.
