Elemental Designs Subwoofers
I am in the market for upgrading my subwoofers. I was on avs forum and a seem to be well respected member Craigsub posted this ranking of subwoofers. Elemental designs has a number of subs on that list. I wanted to know how accurate this list might be and has anyone ever heard and elemental sub.

I am thinking about getting two of these. I have heard nothing but good things on blu ray forum and they rank according to this list above the svs nsd10 i was thinking about for 100 less.

What was the point of that post, 6 year old posting and no real value in content.
The OP needs to post the cubic feet of his room if he is looking for suggestions.Speakers: SDA-1C (most all the goodies)

So does anyone have any experience with ED and if so, how do they stack up against EPIK, SVS, Velo, HSU. Those are the brands I am looking at. Its 15x19 room.

ED is a client of mine and while all companies have their hiccups, they are a growing company that offer a great value in their home audio products. I also know Craig Chase a little bit and yes his list is a valuable tool. It's not gospel, but there's a ton great objective and subjective knowledge there.
The only issue I have with ED subs is that they have no eq curves or limiters built into their amps. This means that the user needs to be aware and careful about overdriving the driver and amp. As you go up in their lines, it's harder and harder to do, but it's still an issue.
As thsmith said, room size is very important. The A2-300 will give you great deep bass performance for very little money if properly calibrated and played within it's limits.
Combo rig:
Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B
PB13Ultra RO
BW Silvers
Oppo BDP-83SE -
rdb assuming you have 8' ceilings I have a room about 80 cubic ft smaller than yours. I also have one eD A2-300 and I have no complaints. How do you plan to position them? Even with 2 identical subs getting two subs to work together can be a little time consuming. Also these are LARGE but if you have the room for them I think it will give you more than enough bass, but then again how do I know how much bass you like. By all accounts I have seen the competiive models from HSU and SVS are maybe a notch above the A2-300 but not equal to the cost differece IMHO as I have not heard the SVS or HSU's. I only paid $315 for mine, so they have gone up a little, but I think they are justifying some of this with a new "greener" type of MDF which I am probably wrong calling MDF because I guess technically it isn't. Then there's the finish, ok for me, but some find it unacceptable. I think that the A2-300 is one of the best < $400 subs out there. Their larger subs also get good reviews by some, but I'm not so sure about their value as they are a little pricey to me. YMMV

Thanks for the replies. I have 18 foot ceilings and it sucks the life out of the 2 subs i have now. I am thinking about the Epik valor or 2 ED a2-300. I have read nothing but good reviews about the ED and for 350 shipped to my door, I think that is hard to beat.

At over 5100cf I doubt you will notice a lot of improvement. You might if you put them on either side of LP. With 2 of then you are looking at $700. I have had multiple subs and they are a pain unless you stack them which is an option you should consider and put them directly behind LP.Speakers: SDA-1C (most all the goodies)

Wow, that makes bass a lot more expensive! I'm a little doubtful if 2 A2-300's would do it, but you could give them a call, give them room size and description and I think they would give you an honest opinion on what product they would recommend. I think they are small enough they want happy customers, not just a sale. -

Stacking is my next option, I couldnt stack my subs I have now. I want 2 Epik valors or knights but they have been out of stock since dec. Does anyone have an eta on EPIK. The subs I have do ok, but it doesnt fill the room like I want. Thanks for all the input. -

No idea what Epiks plans are. I got tired of waiting for a response from them, I was interested in the Conquest. Ended up going with a SVS PB13U and never looked back.
Might have better luck with a SVS PB13U when they have B stock available.Speakers: SDA-1C (most all the goodies)
