RTi28 vs RTi A1
Is there really any diff?
A1 gets a tad better reviews and has a slightly deeper cabinet.
Their specs look essentially the same!
MSRP is about the same also.

Understood but what about the sound and works?
If I'm not mistaken one is just a newer version of the other??

Oh yeah what's up with the 4 wire hookup on the A1?
Can I still use my 2 wire setup on them?

The two pairs of binding posts are for bi-amping/bi-wiring purposes. They'll still work fine with just one pair of the binding posts hooked up though. If you ever do bi-amp them though, make sure you remove the jumper connecting the two pairs.
I've never compared the two side by side or anything...but the A1's are supposed to sound better. The curved cabinet design is supposed to improve the acoustical inertia. It might not be a night and day difference...but better none the less. Also...the RTi A1's look a lot better in my opinion. That's not always a big issue though. The nirvana inducer-

I would imagine the A1s are an incremental improvement. All companies make minor improvements over time. Still, the RTi28s are pretty nice speakers. If the A1s are equivalent or better, you'd be good to go.Equipment list:

Can't speak to the RTi28, but have had a pair of A1s for a couple of months and really enjoy them. Great looking and sound very nice. I recommend them without hesitation...Don't forget to enjoy the music...

Kewl they should be good mains for me then!
I'm gonna move my RT15i's to the rear.
With only a 90watt unit it should drive em nicely.
I almost went the long dollar and got the LSI series but I don't have the wattage to push em.
Not to mention the limited space I have they would be HUGE for the area I have to place them.
The A1's are pushing it as they have a pretty deep cabinet.

I just put mine up for sale i compaired them side by side with my RTi 28's and found the 28's have more of a deeper open three dimentional soundstage and the A1's have a all up front sound they both sound good but the voices are more pernounced on the A1's and they do have a boxi resonating nasal sound in the vocals it's a coloration sound and it always is in the sound no matter what is played ...it sounds like the box is producing the coloration as this sound is not in the older Rti 28's because the box on the 28's feels like 2 or 3 times thicker than the new RTi A1's...just tap on the speakers cabinets and you can here the rti 28 is thick and dead sounding where as the A1 will feel thin and ping when tapped... the rti 28's are smaller and weigh much more due to the better thicker cabinet also.. I think the 28's back then where made for music more as the rti A1's sound like they are geared more tawards TV sound as there main priority goal one....they both sound good you probably wont notice the coloration sound i am speaking of in the rti A1's you will only notice it when you do a A,B compairasion with other speakers as i did this with the Rti 28's and also compaired the A 1's with my infinity speakers and i found the A'1 have a coloration in them all the time.. the A1's tweeter also seems to have some type of coloration...as this is also stated in the sereo reveiw magazine the tweeter sometimes sounds like it ads it's own sound that is not even in the recording i can't explaine it it's like a smear sounding effect.
There ok like i said if you don't compare and do a A,B test against other speakers. -
I have the Rti28s and love them but if I had to choose now I would pick the A1s.Speakers: SDA-1C (most all the goodies)
