The right amount of bass is usually determined by the user. But as far as are you pushing your sub to hard that is simple. Does it have audible distortion? Does it have excessive port noise if the answer to these questions is yes than you are pushing the speaker beyond it's limits and you should turn it down a notch until the distortion is gone at max listening level but will still give you ample sub level. If you are not satisfied it is time to upgrade.

2 psw 505's should be more than enough for a 15 x 15 room unless you're a bass head. I run my sub at -6db (avr) and the sub gain is set to 60%.

I think you'll be just fine with your settings.

I put the volume knob on my dual 505's at the 1 o'clock position. They work pretty good stacked in a corner.

I am considering this sub and was wondering if there is any preffered method to "hooking'' it up. I have my sub now hooked up to my receiver thru the Sub pre-out. I don't get as much bass as I used to hooking it up with speaker wire. Is this normal? I've got it set to the max(db) thru the receiver and it's still weaker than it was at half volume set up with speaker wire...my current sub(sony sw2500) isn't that great anyways...just wondering how the sub performs with just a sub pre-out connection from the receiver...thanks.
