That's a touching story. Just goes to show ya, all the other members of the animal kingdom aren't so different from us. They still experience love and emotions just as we do.

Reminds me a of a NatGeo documentary I saw a while back about a lion that had been cast out of her pack and made friends with a gazelle...that was another touching story.

I am sorry to inform everyone that Bella the dog has died, possibly from attacks by coyotes. However, not before Tarra the elephant did one final act of love for her canine friend.

    RIP Bella

    Amazing story! Very sweet.

We have something like that in our house, though not with such contrast. Our 10 lb cat and pit bull mix, both rescue animals, love each other. The dog lets the cat grab her head (which she can barely get her paws around) and bite her ears in play. Better than watching cartoons!

    Great story.

Animals have a way about them we can all learn from. The day after I moved into my house, I took my German Sheperd out in the back yard to do his duty. Not having any fence, and since we back to woods, I wanted to make sure he knew his boundries. The dog took 2 steps and froze. I looked up and a female deer was just laying down in the yard. My dog, never having seen a deer up close before, didn't know what to make of it. He slowly walks over to it, the deer doesn't move. I sat there, jaw on the ground, as my dog and this deer started to kiss each other. It was if that deer was saying " welcome to the 'hood ". I love when nature shows it's more gentle side.

That is just adorable. Amazing what we could learn from the other creatures on this rock.
