Hard drives? multiple questions(sorry)

I didn't want to hijack Ron-P's thread so...
I have SOMETHING wrong with my HDD. I don't know wtf it is, but it's obviously corrupted. After loading XP on there, it's stable, but I think I want to go back to Vista. It's a Seagate 500GB, and was installed for gaming, but since I no longer am interested in that, I just want a RELIABLE HDD.
So,...
Anybody use/ installed a Solid State HDD yet? Are these more resilient to virus/ attacks?
How are the 10,000rpm Raptors? I 'think' I want the smallest hdd available, since I'll be storing everything on flash drives, and I assume that a smaller hdd will reduce my recovery time, if I have to reformat.
I just want something that'll work for streaming video like "youtube", and print pdf files.
Thanks for any feedback

I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!

a solid state and 10,000 rpm drives would both be more suited to gaming as the will be faster drives.
if you are just going to be watching youtube and printing things then any hard drive will work. what is wrong with what you have? and why the flash drives? a hard drive is lots cheaper.
