Hi, I know this is subjective but is there any reason from a sound quality perspective that one would prefer a early Monitor 10 over a RTA Monitor 12B?? Wondering if anyone has both and their thought Keiths

Basically, the Monitor 10 has less bass but sounds quite similar. The good points is that the Model 10s are a lot smaller than the RTA12Bs.

some thing RTA's are ugly beast. LOLengtaz
I love how music can brighten up a bad day. -
The RTA 12B is a better speaker, by not so small a margin, imo. A more refined and more coherent presentation. Having said that, I also enjoy the Monitor 10 sound a great deal. I own both and have listened to both enough to have formulated this opinion. I like 'em both.

I think it depends on what monitor 10's you have. I like the monitor 10A's with the peerless better than the monitor 10's without. I never heard the RTA 12's. Either way I would perfer a SDA speaker over both but I would go with lound and clear on this one since he owns both. JMOPolk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,
Yamaha RX-V2500 System, Carver A753 3 channel amp.
Polk HT system 2: , SRT system with f/x 1,000's rear speakers on 7.1 system currently using Onkyo TX-RZ820 receiver, powered by Sunfire Grand Theater amp
Polk Speaker collection: SDA SRS 1.2tl x 2, SRT system, SDA SRS 2 P/B, SDA 2A, SDA 1C Studio, SDA CRS+, Monitor 7B & 4, SRS 3.1tl, RTA 15tl, LS90, LSI 9 -
I have 10B's...and they will kick your ****...

Well, they might, but do they sound better than the 12's? No way."Wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then." Bob Seger

consider the footprint...the 12s are giant.
