Nah, I think Penn's a good team, and USC happens to be the most talented(and the best) team in the nation right now. Pac10 undefeated in bowl games this year!

just remember your blew your shot at the natl. championship, again, even with all those top 100 recruits. get beat by ore st. remember this feeling and next year keep something close by to clear your throat. because you seem to consistently choke and amazing they dont adress it more with all that talent there. Best defense ever? except ore st. the best d ever would have been natl champs.

I think a strong Notre Dame recruiting is really hurting the Big 10 in that the Irish steals alot of talents from the Big 10 spawning pool. Hurts the Pac10 too but definitely the Big10 the most. Miami and Virginia Tech moving to the ACC also will indirectly add to the Big10's downward spiral in the very near future if not already. With the traditional powerhouses of the Big East gone, Pittsburg, Rutgers, and Cincinnati all became more attractive to recruits all of a sudden. Ohio and Pennsylvania now will lose more recruits to Pittsburg and Cincinnati. NY and NJ which will lose less recruits to the Big10 now that Rutgers is a good program to play for.

I am a Buckeye fan...but I have to say USC looked too good today.

    The QB had amazing stats!

Penn is a good team, but USC is better than most think.

I only watch football and basketball, and both sports they must all suck about the same because they fool us into thinking they are all pretty good teams, then they play a team outside the conference and get thier asses handed to them, over and over again.

It changes from year to year.
Remember...the last couple of years the SEC was the best...before that...the BIG 10.
This year they say BIG 12.
It's all good for the game.

Nah, I still think it's still the SEC. Florida, Alabama, LSU, Mississippi, and Georgia is better than Oklahoma, Texas, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, and Mizz

Actually, I'm calling Florida over Oklahoma and Ohio State over Texas this year.

USC was very good...and yes the Big Ten sucks this year.

Is it just me though thinking that Brent Musburger and Kirk Herbstreit made the game practically unwatchable. What morons. It was good that the game was out of reach early because it allowed me to go watch something else and not have to pay any attention to that game.

On another note...I was watching the Orange Bowl and the video engineers on that game should be banished from ever doing another football game. Did anyone notice that EVERY TIME they showed a replay...just as it was about to get to the critical point...ie: was it a fumble, was he in bounds when he had control, etc...they would cover the screen with the stupid Orange Bowl Logo and you couldnt see anything. The announcer would be saying "watch here and you will see that the........." and he had to just stop because there was nothing to see.

I have no idea about any of the other games, because I was doing other things instead of watching football till about 6:00 PM. If the Rose and Orange bowl telecasts are any indication, I didn't miss much.

Where are all the good college football broadcast crews....are there any good ones?

Well, the Buckeyes play Monday. Maybe they can pull out a victory. But the experts are picking Texas in a romp. One thing about the Big 10 and the bowl games this year. Every game that they played in, they were the lower ranked team. (Not sure about Iowa/South Carolina)That being said, and if the rankings are right, they should lose.

Definitely a down year for the Big 10. Michigan had their worst season ever, Wisconsin was worse than normal. Purdue down too. Things will swing around again in a couple years. Indiana is getting stronger. Mich can only get better under Rodriguez. Wisconsin will be back too. Penn State and OSU are always forces to be reckoned with.

IMHO, the SEC is the best conference though and will continue to be year after year. More talent comes out of Florida high schools every year than just about any other state and most of those players prefer to stay in the SE region.

Not always, look at the Pac-10
Oklahoma State was ranked higher and favored over Oregon
Pittsburgh was ranked higher and favored over Oregon State
BYU ranked and favored over unranked Arizona
Most people thought Miami despite their shortfalls was still favored over Cal, similar to the Wisconsin FS matchup.

    Those rankings are highly misleading.

Yeah, it's favorable for the Big10 that Rod's doing a horrible job in terms of recruiting in his own state but still pulling in a ridiculous amount of talent. It leaves the door wide open for Michigan State. At least for the next year, I'm favoring the Spartans as the new Big10 power kind of like how Penn State emerged this year. My Big 10 ranking next year will be Ohio State, Michigan State, Michigan, and then Penn State. Wisconsin, honestly, they've never been good. They should have decline their invitation this year as playing Akron, Marshall, and Cal Poly(almost lost) padded a record that otherwise wasn't good enough to be in a Bowl game.

Seems most of the country doesnt play very good defense. I am a penn state fan and we did not deserve to win. first half mistakes cost us our shot but usc is beatable. The pac 10 though they had a few bowl wins is a wek conference, the big 12 make all qbs look good because all of the defensive coordinators bet the over in every game or they just cant play defense. look who was in the orange bowl and see how those conferences are doing and the sec look pretty darn good and big ten is just decent. What im getting out is there are allot of pretty good teams out there and there really isnt too much difference between a number 5 team and a number 25 team, and the top 5 are who ever play the best game that week. penn state deserved to be in there a few weeks, usc, texas, fla, oak, tt, bama but its why we need a playoff. usc has zero shot at ant split with a win over psu and before crying just remember wht the regular season in college football is so great, because its also the postseason because they will now and forever keep **** us the fans, and we will keep watching, goin to gmes and buying jerseys, banners and bein thrown in the penn state or steelers or penguins category for birthdays and christams.

How weird that the Pac 10 was so bad this year - many teams losing to much lesser teams - & yet they go 5 & 0 in the bowl games???

I mean, yea! But whaddup wid dat?

Another great example of one team WANTING to be there to prove something and another going through the motions because they felt they should have been somewhere else. Alabama was a young team that played over their heads at just the right times for MOST of the year. We can exclude the SEC Championship and the Sugar Bowl from that list. By these games they had begun to believe the hype about how good they were.

So much for Saban being the great motivator...

Not to take my comments above out of context, Utah played a great game and deserved to win.

My dislike for Alabama is second only to my dislike for Florida (actually I probably hate them equally :D). I AM A FAN of the SEC in spite of my dislike of Tennessee's two biggest rivals.

Alabama laid an egg and Spurier (like Fulmer) may be past his prime at SC who got totally embarrassed. On the other hand one of the weakest teams in the SEC East and a mid-level SEC West team LSU (this year) just handed two of the contenders for the ACC crown pretty embarrassing losses. GA beat one of the so far winless Big 10 teams in Michigan St. Mississippi beat one of the high powered Big 12 teams in Texas Tech and exposed just how weak their defenses are. Kentucky who was HORRIBLE and had no business going to a bowl game at 6-6 actually won.

As much as I hate to do so, I will be pulling for FL to win against OK because I think they are the better team and I try to pull for the SEC whenever they play someone else. It will be hard to do so and I won't lose any sleep if they don't win (Urban Myer is a dick).

The Monday Fiesta Bowl and the Thursday Championship games should be good games to watch.

I think so also. It's the same reason why I thought Penn State had a chance(but USC came out with a very high intensity) and why Ohio State have a chance. After all, Texas thinks its playing in the wrong bowl against a team that it's above.
