LCi-C a good match for LS50 series?

I recently upgraded my system to blu-ray and got a new receiver (Onkyo TX-SR876) to replace my aging Yamaha RX-V2090 and DDP-1 Dolby Digital processor (lol). I am still very happy with my speaker setup: LS50's (rosewood finish, perfect condition!) for front L&R, CS350 for center and LS f/x for surround). When we built our house, I had the builders wire the surround and single center back channel in the walls. So I have a center back surround wire available to be hooked up.

I have been looking at various options for the single back surround channel. The Onkyo supports a single back surround channel. I am currently looking at the LCi-C as the center back channel to use.

Will this be an acceptable match to my current speaker system? It has an aim-able tweeter, so I should be able to use it from the elevated position (8 ft or so) on the back wall. Since I have already spent quite a bit of money on upgrading the system, I don't want to replace the speakers, especially since we're still very happy with both the sound and looks of the LS50's.

Any suggestions / comments appreciated!

Thanks, and Happy New Year!

Thanks for the reply! Obviously as you suggest, a matched speaker from the same series will be best.

However, I neglected to mention that ascetics also play a part, and mounting a huge speaker like the CS350 is not really practical. The question is whether the LCi-C will be an adequate match for a back surround speaker. I should also mention that I have active searches for the LS f/x, which I can run in dipole mode (non diffuse) as a single back surround channel to match the bipole LS f/x run as L&R surrounds.

What I like about the LCi-C (obviously) is the fact that they will be inobtrusive, being in-wall and all :). However, if they are a complete mismatch, I will reconsider my options. This is where I need help from the experts.

It's not going to be perfect, but it should be more than close enough. I had the Ls's back in the day withoug a perfect matching center. they seemed to be forgiving if timbre match wasnt spot on.

The LCIc has the vifa tweeter. again, it wont be a perfect match, but for quality level your spot on. If anything, the vifa might come off just a skosh more laid back than the tweets in the LS series.

down the road, if you snag those LSi fx's, you'll be good to go!!

given your situation, I say do it

Back surround should work fine. If you were talking center then I'd say no.
