Hi all just wanted to get some input on the subs, I haven't had a chance to listen to the fathom yet but I do own a SVS which is a great sub. My question is the fathom a better sounding sub? Has anybody here had the chance to listen to this sub?

This is a very tough comparison because its hard to come by a SVS, in my opinion, because it is online only. Since you already own an SVS you should just goto a JL dealer and bring some of your own media to do an apple to apples test. I personally could not buy a speaker without listening to it first. I've never heard an SVS but I do own a Fathom. Musically speaking I haven't heard anything better than the JL and I've auditioned many before I was sold on it. I would say though ideally you would probably want two of these subs in a setup. So that may be somthing to consider as well since you already have one SVS I would just add another if you are happy with the sound.Sony KDSR70XBR2 70" RPTV

For the price I dont think the SVS can be beat. Then again the JL is supposedly the icing on the cake, but at a premium. I would love to own dual Gothams, so Im hoping SVS makes a Ultra 13/plus 2. If so count me in for two.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

A single PB13-U is more powerful (capable of more output)and better sounding. Not sure if you are familiar with the craigsub rankings over at AVS, but and Ultra was judged better than the F113...
and considerably better than the 112!

Even though I haven't heard an SVS its hard to imagine SVS being more powerful with the same size woofer and half the amp power, and better sounding is purely an opinion. Ported vs sealed sounds very differnet, this is swayed by the type of music you listen to and how you think it should sound. They dont even take into account a dual sub setup which is THE standard IMO for serious HT setups. I have read the craigsub list and it is very unofficial as he himself states. I would even question how craig got all of the subs side by side in one location to do a real test like that. All subs would need to be positioned the same way in the same location and tweaked, then played with the same media in the same day. Impossible! That would takes months..I would demo them yourself, you'll have to go to an authorized dealer anyway to get them so just stop in for a listen.Sony KDSR70XBR2 70" RPTV

Ported subs require less power to attain the same output as an equivalent sealed sub.
That aside, SQ is in the ear of the beholder. For the price of 1 F113 he could have dual Ultras. -
