I'm new here, this is my first post.
I have had my 10A's since the early to mid 80s. they are in great shape. I replaced 1 tweeter in the late 80s. (silver & clear dome, 1500 I think) My original tweeter is all black with NO markings on front and pinhole in the middle of dome. On the back(magnet area) a white sticker says made in usa and a 7 or 8 digit # is stamped on the back of the magnet. No real reference #'s.
I just ordered 2 new RD 0194-A tweeters from Polk. I think my current black tweeter sounds more pleasing than the silver one. I would think I should replace both , anyone have an opinion? Also, how do you know if you have a PEERLESS tweeter? Has anyone else installed the RD tweeters and do you have an opinion?
My drivers seem ok but has anyone replaced their's and any opinion on that would be appreciated.
**The reason I'm looking to replace speakers in my 10As is because recently Bose has stopped offering speaker replacement for the 601 series II. I need 4 drivers for them and if anyone has any ideas, I would appreciate it.(I know Bose isn't well liked around here but I like the tweeter array of the 601 II. I guess I'll have to install another brand driver/woofer in the 601's.
This is a great site and resource, thank you for ANY advise.

I have had 2 sets of Monitor 10's. The 2 tweeters you ordered from Polk will be great and then you can sell the others on ebay or here on Club Polk. -

Hi,
The 10As usually come with a tweeter marked 5414xxxx on the back. These were made in the US FOR Pearless. The earlier 10s come with a tweeter marked 7514xxxx. These are Pearless made in Denmark by Pearless. They look identical. They do not sound the same. The earlier ones are a little more assertive and vibrant. The later ones, 5414s are a little more laid back and open. The SL1000 is the clear domed, silver faced unit which really is not bad. It actually has very good dispersion. It is the SL2000 (clear dome but a black face that is larger) that tends to be real bright. So that's a little background on the tweeters. -
it's a '97 Cruiser. (not my only car but my favorite it seems) Got about 125,000 on it, I've had it since '99, got it with 17,000 miles or so on it. I'm looking to get a new one but I'll never get rid of my baby. Best vehicle I've ever had, still in great shape, no problems ever. I use it for work primarily.
So I guess i'm not making a mistake by replacing the tweeters? Anyone know what the black tweeter I have is? -

Hey Lcruiser, welcome and how much would you take for the one working tweeter + shipping? Yours plus mine will pair up to make beautiful music together! Let me know if you'd be willing to sell it. Where you located?:)

I am looking to replace the tweeters in my 10a floor monitors, have been unsuccessful in finding any, would prefer new or new old stock if possible, bought these recently, only one tweeter works, the other is damaged, also info on the mids would be appreciated, they sound amazing now,but are not complete.

Do you know which ones you have? If they're SL2000's Polk stocks RDO194's which is a drop in replacement and an upgrade... Welcome to Club Polk!

Are they all black with a hole in the middle, silver with a clear dome, or black with a clear dome that is probably now a yellow tinted dome?afterburnt wrote: »They didn't speak a word of English, they were from South Carolina.

10A's most likely came with the Peerless"hole in the middle of dome" you can buy new manufacture but still a copy of the no longer made original through.
