Newbie....RM 6880 & Speaker Wire Connections?

Hello all!
First-time Polkie, just upgraded from a 1986 Pioneer 'all in one' 2 channel beauty... My system includes a Sammy 50", Sony 820, and my Polk RM 6880.
I've purchased Monster XP speaker wire (14 gauge) and connected my fronts through the subwoofer, as per 'the Polk way'....all connections are bare wire. The problem is, my 14 gauge speaker wire is too thick to fit into the subwoofer spring terminal inputs. I had to shear a bunch off the end to jam it in. Now I have sound, but this can't be the optimum set-up.
Looking into speaker connectors, I was hoping this would solve the problem. I intend on using the following (does it seem right....far from an expert)?
Sat's - mini banana clips
Receiver Connections - Twist Crimp Angled Gold Pins
Subwoofer - ???? (Twist Crimp Angled Gold Pins or 2 Piece Pin Connectors)
What is the best type of connection for the spring connectors on the subwoofer? Do the rest of my connection choices make sense?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Welcome to Club Polk
14 gauge SHOULD fit in there? If not, I'd go with the twist crimp angled pins, but only where you need them. No sense in spending $$$ where it's not necessary,
Good luck, and update usI refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!
