Hello everybody,
Could you please help me in which way is best way to connect the SUB PSW1000?
By mistake I bought a subwoofer cable LFE (8 mts) to be used in my preamplifier (ROTEL RC1082), but this preamplifier doesnt have LFE inputs (only have 2 preouts "RCA").
What you recommend me, should I better buy a new RCA cable or it is OK to buy 2 ´"Y" adapters (female to male adapters and Less expensive) and use the cable I already bought.
Or I f you have another recommendation, please let me know in how to use the best way both equipments (PReamplifier and SUbwoofer)
Thanks in advance for your support.
BEst regards,

you can use one of the RCA pre outs for your subwoofer. subwoofers need RCA pre out connections. and it sounds like you have two of them. use only one though.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

You wouldn't hurt anything by using both outputs or inputs but that's up to you. A Y cable would be fine.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

When I use a Y cable from my Preamp's L/R out into my subwoofer my preamp then only outputs a mono signal to the speakers. Although it's not fresh in my memory I believe that some pre's will not allow that type of connection using a passive method, and I think I read that it can even damage the pre over time.
Here was my question on the subject not too long ago:

My suggestion would be to only use one channel as most bass information is present on both channels. There is the potential for losing some bass if it's on the other channel only, but probably not a real issue.Speakers: Polk LSi15

That's a good point tcrossman since not every piece of gear is created equal. I've never read about damage from using such an adapter on a pre-out but have read about line level induced hum.
I digress, keep the Y adapter on the far end, or not at all.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint. -
Thanks everybody for your feedback
Tcrossma, the link you attached was very useful, but in the other hand, there are some connections that I am not familiar. I am new on this stuff.
If I understand well, so it it is totally recommended to buy a new RCA cable an try to sell the subwoofer cable.
I also have another question for all you guys, but first, let me explain the equipment that I own to help me better.
I have a ROtel 1082 preamplifier (2 preouts), a Rotel 1070 stereo amplifier (2 channels) , a ROtel speaker selector rs900 (I connected here 1 pair of POlk RT7 speakers and a bose acousticmass 5) and now the PSW1000 subwoofer.
According with some readings, do you recommend me to connect the subwoofer (Speaker in) to the speaker selector (RS900) and then connect the acousticmass speaker to the subwoofer (speaker out).
I also heard that doing so, you can miss the low frequencies and only mid and high frequencies can be delivered to the Bose speakers. If this is true, I will not suffer to much sSince the Bose subwoofer doesnt have to much presence.
Do you think this is possible, or I am just saying crazy things. -
If your "2 preamp outs" is Left and Right, then connect those to the L and R line inputs. Get the new cable.
Do not use the Y adaptor to combine the two signals.
Y adaptors are for splitting, not for combining.-Eric
