Is this a good amp for my setup : Denon 3808ci • Rti A5 • Fxi 5 & Velodyne DPS-12 sub. I'm looking for an amp around that price range $599, that will last me for some time and bring smiles to me and my face face when watching Blu-Ray's.
Thanks in advance for any advice?:D

speaking from personal experience i would spring for the XPA-5, if you are running a 7.1 system you could always just run your rear surrounds thru your AVR

Upa-7 is going to be a big step up from your internal amp a xpa setup is going to push your system to the limit and will be a huge step up. I think either one you pick you will be happy with.

I have used several emotiva products (i think 7), and they have all been AMAZING quality and have just flat out performed. Emotiva is one of my favorite companies because of their products, their employees, and the great service they give.

The UPA-7 is a perfect amp based off the LPA-1 that i used to own. That amp can just flat out perform. Best thing for the money around...seriously. The XPA line does take it a step up though. Its going to keep on going where the UPA-7 would loose steam. Its an amp built for performance and it knows no end. No matter what you choose from emotiva though i can gurantee you will be VERY happy :)

Go to the top-left of this page, where it says 'User CP', and then go to 'Edit signature'. Fill in your set up:)

Trin, that is the beauty of having the XPA, you don't have to push it. If you keep the volume down, it will still be nice and articulate & clear. When you do want to push it, you will have a grin on your face that won't ever leave!:D

Cfrizz, you already put a GRIN on my face by saying "if you keep the volume down, it will still be nice and articulate & clear." Boy oh Boy!

That was my biggest shock when I got my first serious amp. The Parasound 1500A 205wpc!

This was back when I had a receiver. My usual listening volume was -30 and it was still muddled. When I got the amp, that was too LOUD! I had to turn it down to -40, and it was as clear as a bell!:D

that is exactly what I was looking for! I'm new to all of this, and I was wondering if there was any advantage to getting an external amp other than being able to drive the higher end speakers with more drivers etc and higher volumes. I have the same problem where listening at lower volumes the sound isn't as clearly defined as I'd like. If getting a separate amp helps with that, I'm definitely gonna look into getting one.
