DSW PRO 600 Crossover Starting Point

Hi,
I just purchased this Polk setup with a Denon AVR-2809CI Receiver
and wanted to know if someone can help with a good starting point for crossover settings.
SUB: DSW PRO 600 (Connected via LFE)
Front: RTi A7
Center: CSi A6
Surround: FXi A6
They are all currently set as "Small" in the receiver.
Also, when you turn on the sub, does it always default back to 50% volume?
And do most people leave it there or need to turn it up more?
I am used to having a more visual volume dial.
Thanks.

RaZorMix,
I run two DSW Pro 600s in my setup and love them. You have a very nice setup btw. I would set the crossover setting on the back of the sub to the highest setting (I can't remember on the top of my head, but I think it's somewhere between 160 to 200 hz), and let the LFE function on your reciever handle all of the crossover functions. I would start by setting your crossover setting on your reciever at 80 Hz and experimenting from there. Personally I like mine set at 90hz, but see what you like best with your setup. The sub will not automatically revert back to 50% volume each time you turn it on unless that is what you had the sub set to the last time you turned it off. The sub will revert back to whatever was the last volume setting when it was last turned off. I personally like mine set to about 28 (out of 40), but again experiment and see what sounds best for you. If you're not sure how to check the volume on the DSW sub, just let me know, and I'll be more than happy to explain it. The volume settings also vary depending on the source. Sometimes I turn the subs slightly up, sometimes down based on the source. That's the beauty of the DSW subs, having the remote to quickly and easily fine tune the subs. Make sure you try the different phase and placement settings with the remote also. They make a big difference in the way the sub sounds.
You may also want to experiment with running the A7 fronts as full range just to see how it sounds. Right now with you running the A7s with the 2809 reciever and having the DSW sub, setting the A7s to small is probably the right setting for your application, but try it on full range just to see how it sounds. Also, the A7s really respond well to external amplication, so if you ever add an amp in the future to power the A7s, make sure you set them to full range and large on your reciever. -

Awesome!
Thank you so much, I really appreciate the info.
Dawgfish,
When you say "I personally like mine set to about 28 (out of 40)"
Does that mean if you lower the volume all the way to the bottom,
40 clicks on the volume up button would hit the max and 20 would be 50%?
That would really help remembering settings if that is the case.
Thanks again,

RazorMix,
You are correct, 20 clicks up from dead bottom would be 50%. Setting 28 would be 12 clicks down from full volume of 40 clicks. You can actually check the volume settings on the sub by counting the number of times the front LEd flickers when you press and release the volume botton on the remote. For example, click the volume setting on the romote and count the number of times the front LED flashes. Long flashes account for 10 volume settings, while the short flashes account for one volume setting, so if you set the sub to 28, you would see 2 longer flashes, followed by 8 shorter flashes. Hope this helps. -
wow, you just made my day!
I'll play around tonight.
Thanks again!
