I am thinking about upgrading to LSi15 speakers, but have a question before making this decision. Will the LSi15 speakers with the woofer on the side, sound ok if placed between my equipment tower and LCD? The woofer would be playing into the equipment tower. I have the space to move the speakers forward but the left side would be playing into the tower to some degree.

I've had the Lsi's for a year now, and I think you will not notice any significant change with the placement you describe. However, I think you will probably want a sub at some point. I have a parasound A21 which is 400 watts per channel into the 4ohm Lsi's and I could not live without a sub. I love the Lsi's mid and tweets, but the bass is just alright.

I think it probably depends on how much the 15's would be "boxed in" by the media tower. Placement with any tower is going to be reasonably important. Because of our xmas tree, my LSi15's are shifted to the right in my room, which stuffs the right speaker into the corner beside a reliner, which completely changes my soundstage and makes them sound boomy.

In regards to needing a sub for 2-channel with the 15's... this completely depends on the synergy of your other components. In my setup, there is absolutely no reason for me to add a sub and I'm a bassaholic. The bass I get out of my rig when I'm listening at spirited levels you will feel in your chest.

^I agree with with matt when it comes to 2 channel listening. I dont use the sub for it and LOVE the sound they put out.

If you ever feel the LSi15's are lacking in bass, perform the crossover upgrade you will find in the threads here. The bass after doing that will blow you away. I turned off my sub after the upgrade, and I have only LSi9's.

I just had them upgraded by another CP member, but have not heard them yet. I should have the XO's on Saturday. I'll let you know what I think.

Did you have the whole job done, including the low pass? The bass only improves if you put in the big honking beer can caps for the bass section.
I have no experience in it yet(soon), but I believe upgrading the LF inductor should also help.
