Well, the "computer" voice of Star Trek has passed away, leukemia. RIP.

She played many roles that I'll remember - first of all - Nurse Chapel in STOS.

    Makes me feel my age.

    RIP

One by one we are losing the cast of the Original Series. Well now she has joined her husband who left her behind so many years ago. Gene Rodenberry

She did her best to preserve and continue his legacy of one of the greatest Sci Fi shows ever made.

Rest In Peace Majel Barrett Rodenberry!

I was never a hardcore Trekkie myself, though I do enjoy the show quite a bit. It's sad to hear that though...it seems like there's been a non-stop string of very influential people dying lately.

    RIP Majel Barret Rodenberry

Gene wanted her to be 2nd in command for the series, but the suits didn't think anyone would accept a woman so high up in the chain of command so it went to Spock. (They worried about his pointy ears!)

Gene was way ahead of his time back then.

She played Number One to Captain Pike (Jeffrey Hunter) in the very first Star Trek pilot The Cage, TOS 001. In the latter episodes she portrayed the Nurse Chapel character and did the computer voices. She carried on throughtout the Movies & Next Gen. I just read that she also did the computer voice for the upcomming movie. No doubt this film will be didicated to her memory. As it should be. ;)
